Distribution Management

Distribution management includes forecasting, transportation, warehousing, and delivery


within the larger universe of logistics and supply chain management. These require precise
tracking, real-time information, and highly-skilled staffing to execute effectively.
Distribution management is an integral part of logistics.
While continually facing a spectrum of variables in their daily business, distribution
managers are charged with resolving the three fundamental questions:

 How Much?

Distributor:
A distributor is an intermediary entity between the producer of a product and another entity in
the distribution channel or supply chain, such as a retailer, a value-added reseller (VAR) or a
system integrator (SI).

Day to Day Activities:
 Make orders to HUL, taking invoices, billing and delivering the products
 Maintains SOP (standard operation plan) and does work accordingly
Inventory management -
 Stock maintain happens once in every month.
 Follow the method of FIFO (first come first serve) for distributing the products
 Damaged and expired stock is kept aside and after the audit for HUL, those products
are sent to the company and amount is credited back
 Montly operation cycle from 21- 20 of every month
 Based on these, schemes and new products are published
Targets -
 Reaching the targets which is based on previous year performance.
 It is almost 10-15% of previous year
 Depending on seasonality and trends, product schemes are made
