1. What are gmo products?

- Gmo or genetically modified organisms are the production of heritable

improvements in plants or animals for specific uses, via either genetic
engineering or other more traditional methods.

2. Give specific examples of gmo products.

- Some specific example of gmo products that are widely used up to now
include corn, soybeans and sugar beets that are then used in many foods as
oils or sweeteners.

3. What are issues about gmo products?

- Issues with the use of gmo’s might involve consumers, biotechnology

companies, governmental regulators, nongovernmental organizations,
scientists, farmers, farm workers, and other parties. Differences in regulations
(on growing ge crops and food, and importing ge ingredients) between
countries, and sometimes between states.difference in labelling requirements
(whether or not labels should tell the consumer if they contain gmo
ingredients or not) between countries, and sometimes between states. The
testing, data submission and approval process of existing and new gm foods
and crops. In the us for example, there is criticism of the voluntary
consultation of gmo companies to the fda, just as one example, gm foods and
crops are not clinically trialled like drugs (but – the reasoning behind this is
that only gm foods and crops which are designed to be the same as the
conventional crops or food aren’t trialled). There could be unknown long term
effects in ge crops that are designed to impact human health (e.g. A vitamin-
a enriched rice). The fda using the ‘substantial equivalence’ principle as an
assumption has been criticized and The objectivity of current regulatory
authorities in some countries, and how closely aligned they might be with
biotechnology companies
4. What is stem cell?

- According to the oxford concise medical dictionary, Stem cells are an

undifferentiated cells that is able to renew itself and produced specialized
cells. And in other source they say, A stem cell is a cell in a living body with
the potential to develop into different types of cells during the early stage.
Most cells in a living organism are differentiated cells, meaning they are
found in a specific organ and perform particular functions.

5. what are specific benefits or uses of stem cells?

- Stem cells are manufactured in a person’s bone marrow and they have a
capability of cell renewal unlike other cells. Stem cells have several uses and
therefore provide numerous benefits. One is it benefits burn patients, also it
can be used for testing new drugs where the drugs are tested on them prior
to either animal or human testing, Suitable alternative to transplants(Stem
cells also show great potential benefits for forming tissues and cells for use in
medical therapy) and treat various diseases like heart problems

6. What are issues about stem cells pass on schoology?

- Apart from other issues, stem cell also has an issues on schoology. The key
ethical issues concern the destruction of human embryos for stem cell
derivation.  On the grounds that the human embryo is a human life with
moral value justifying its protection, the extraction of embryonic stem cells is
unethical.  The use of adult stem cells and umbilical cord blood stem cells
have generally been considered to be free of any particular ethical issues.  In
fact they have been applauded as ethically superior alternatives to the use of
embryonic stem cells
