A Very Rainy Day
• Posey Meeker, an over-confident mouse wants
Heavy rains and floods make life difficult along the
river bank. Can the heroes keep the residents safe?
Drizzle
A gentle patter of rain falls up and down the river
bank. The heroes are approached by Mrs Prickle,
a tired hedgehog. Her nest is getting wet, and she
needs help patching it up before the four baby
hedgehogs get cold. Can the heroes help?
Possible complications are:
• Pinky, a baby hedgehog keeps poking her nose
through the nest.
• A rivulet of water is running by the nest. Can
the heroes divert it?
• Thistlebrow, a selfish magpie, keeps stealing
bits of the hedgehog’s nest to build his own
Steady Rain
As the rain gets stronger and the sky turns grey
the Meekers, a noisy family of mice can be seen
squeaking on the bank of the river. Their home
is on the other side, but the fallen branch they
usually use to cross has been washed away. Can the
heroes help?
Possible complications are:
• The fast flowing river is full of drifting
branches that could sweep away the mice
to swim across
• The bank on the far side is muddy and slippy
Storm
The sky turns black, thunder rolls and lightning
stabs down. In the meadow next to the river the
talkative rabbits Mr and Mrs Burrow are worried
that the horses in the meadow will stampede and
trample their burrows. Can the heroes keep them
calm?
Possible complications are:
• Rembrandt, a boisterous horse keeps telling
stories about how dangerous lightning is,
alarming the herd.
• Strong winds and thunder claps make it
impossible to be heard
• Applebram, a curious foal, has gone missing in
the dark.
Flood
The storm fades, but in the grey half light a new
problem emerges. The river level is rising fast.
Barney, a young otter comes to report that all the
creatures who live in burrows on the river bank are
in danger. Can the heroes save them?
Possible complications are
• The Reeds, a cautious family of voles are
trapped in their burrow. Who’s going to dig
them out?
• The animals might be safe in the woods, but
they’re afraid there will be foxes
• Mrs Dimble, a worried duck, needs to move her
eggs before her nest is swept away.
Sunshine
Finally the rain stops and the sun comes out. The
animals of the river bank return to their lives, but
not before bringing presents to the heroes who
helped them!
Suggested Hero: Bridget the Badger
Bridget is a kind badger who loves helping out her
neighbours who live along the river bank.
