Tracking the silt
The beautiful coral gardens of the ocean world
Pelagia are threatened by a mysterious cloud of
silt. Can the heroes solve the mystery and end the
threat?
Adventuring beneath the sea
The deep ocean is a lot like space. Characters
with space suits, space going vehicles and similar
equipment will be able to move beneath the ocean
as if they are in outer space.
Darkness falls
The heroes are making a submarine tour of the
famous coral gardens on the beautiful ocean world
of Pelagia. As they look out on the gardens of
blooming corals the surrounding ocean darkens.
A cloud of dark silt starts to settle across the
coral. It blocks the windows and scrambles the
sensors of the heroes submarine as it negotiates a
particularly tricky series of reefs. Can the heroes
avoid disaster? Problems might be
• Their pilot loses control sending passengers
•
flying and the submarine plunging
A passenger falls badly and needs medical care
• Their vessel collides with coral and springs a
leak
Once things are under control the heroes are
contacted by Ardenia, the concerned warden of
the coral gardens. Ardenia asks the heroes to
investigate the silt, to find out where it is coming
from and how it can be stopped.
This investigation assumes the heroes have some
scientific / inventing skills. If they don’t, Ardenia
will be able to help out if they can come up with
the right questions to ask.
• The currents suggest the silt came from a
nearby industrial zone, but there are dozens of
factories there, it could have been any of them.
• An analysis of the silt itself reveals that it is
likely the result of mining operations. That
narrows down the list of possible culprits.
• A year ago Degradon Corporation tried to buy
the gardens to mine them for gold, but Ardenia
refused to sell.
Degradon Corportation
Following the clues leads to a very large
‘research’ station owned by the Degradon
Mining Corporation. This is overseen by Dr. Trex
Degradon, a greedy scientist. Dr Degradon wants
to mine the coral gardens for the gold that is found
there, but in order to do that, he has to get rid of
the coral. The massive clouds of silt are engineered
by his factory.
When confronted by the heroes Dr Degradon will
order his robot workers to restrain them, and
release a huge cloud of silt that will destroy the
coral forever. The robot workers might:
• Seize the heroes with their powerful metal
arms
• Zap the heroes with mining lasers
• Try and hurl the heroes into a giant mining
machine
To stop the silt the heroes will need to:
• Gain entry to the securely sealed mining
control centre
• Get past Dr Degradon in his exo-skeleton
mining rig
• Over-ride Dr Degradon’s computer
Once Dr Degradon is defeated the heroes can get
back to their well earned vacation!
