PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
SUPER SHIELD SELFPROTEK (PC 1195) is a preformed composite self adhesive waterproofing
membrane that is developed with a technology that enables it to impart excellent electrical insulation
characteristics. It is designed to insulates rails from electrical currents and stops the dispersion of current to
the ground. SUPER SHIELD SELFPROTEK membranes are manufactured in advanced continuous
calendaring process under controlled conditions by saturating & coating a robust reinforcement of glass
fibre carrier with a homogenous bituminous blend of distilled asphalt modified with selected high grade
viscoelastic SBS (Styrene Butadiene Styrene) polymer & inert fillers. The 200 micron HMHDPE cross
laminated film makes the membrane highly puncture resistant and provides excellent electrical insulation.

STANDARDS
SUPER SHIELD SELFPROTEK membrane conforms to the requirement of UEAtc & ASTM Standards.

SURFACE FINISH
The top surface of the membranes is covered with a layer of 200 microns cross laminated HMHDPE film. The bottom surface comprises of printed
thermofusible PE film with SUPREME BITUCHEM logo. SUPER SHIELD SELFPROTEK is also available in 1.5mm thickness for PE finish.

Ideal for electrical insulation of railway platforms as it stops the dispersion of electrical current from railway lines and protects the metallic parts of
the underground works from corrosion
Can be used in a wide range of applications, electrically insulating and protecting location cases, trackside assets, rolling stock, roofs and
platforms.

TOOLS FOR FIXING

Knife for trimming the membrane, a trowel with a rounded tip, marking aids, gloves, hand roller for pressing the joint.

APPLICATION METHODOLOGY
SURFACE PREPARATION: Concrete shall be in place for seven days (minimum) after forms are removed and must be dry. Care should be taken
that surfaces to be waterproofed are completely clean, totally dry, smooth, level and free from loose material. Any sharp protrusions such as nails,
tying wire, etc. must be removed and cracks, holes, spilled and damaged surfaces filled and repaired. All external corners must be chaffered.
PRIMING: All vertical and horizontal surfaces must be coated with SUPER PRIMER SA applied with a brush or roller at the rate of 0.3 l/sqm
depending on the porosity of the surface, and allowed to dry completely.
MEMBRANE APPLICATION: SUPER SHIELD SELFPROTEK membranes are applied by positioning the roll over the area to be waterproofed
and peeling the siliconized release film about one meter at a time, while pressing the adhesive surface to the primed substrate. The membrane is
pressed from mid point to the edges in order to expel any trapped air and to ensure good contact. The adjacent roll is then positioned so as to
overlap the fixed membrane by at least 75 – 100 mm along the edge. The selvedge strip provided at the edge of the fixed membrane is then peeled
back one meter at a time while fixing the second roll in the same manner as the first. End laps must be min 100-mm wide. All seams must be pressed
from the top using a suitable seam roller to ensure total contact and continuity at the seams. Inspect the fixed membrane to ascertain that all joints
are properly executed and all air is expelled from under the membrane.

HANDLING &PRECAUTION
SUPER SHIELD SELFPROTEK membranes have no health hazard when used with our standard application recommendations. SUPER
PRIMERS Acontains a flammable solvent with 420C flash point. Use Primer in well ventilated areas away from sources of direct heat or ignition.
Inhalation must be avoided & the use of protective clothing, rubber gloves, goggles & barrier cream is recommended. Do not use solvent to clean
skin. After work clean hands with soap and warm water or suitable mild detergent.

STORAGE
Rolls must be kept up right in vertical position at all times in a covered well ventilated storage area away from sources of direct heat. If ambient
temperature at storage site fall below 150C the rolls should be kept exposed to warmer temperature of 150C to 400C for periods upto 2 hours prior to
use to facilitate unrolling of the membranes. SUPER SHIELD SELFPROTEK membrane has a shelf life 12 months from the date of
manufacturing, if stored in a cool dry store in original unopened packing
