Dear UHS Families:

It is with great pride and excitement that I welcome our talented students back to Union High School. The
administration, teachers, maintenance department, and support staff have worked tirelessly to make this return
possible and we are eager to see the many students that bring such significant meaning to our profession. Our
hybrid schedule begins on Monday, March 15th. Whether your child is in Cohort 1, Cohort 2, or remaining fully
virtual I want to outline specific expectations and protocols to help ease the transition for students and keep our UHS
family safe.

Student Daily Health Screening:

● Parents of students returning to Union High School will be required to complete a Covid Questionnaire
prior to the student/s entering the building. This form will be available on the Genesis parent portal and
will need to be completed each day your child comes to school. Students will NOT be allowed in the
building until the form has been completed.

Safety Protocols:
● Students must wear masks at all times throughout the school day. I recommend students bring at least one
extra mask in the event a replacement is needed.
● Students should wash their hands regularly and utilize the hand sanitizer available in the hallways and
classrooms.
● If your child is feeling sick, he/she cannot attend school that day. If you have any questions, please contact
the Nurse’s office at 908-851-6550.
● Please contact the attendance office to report your child’s absence:
○ 9th/10th Grade - Ms. Alicia Hutchins - ahutchins@twpunionschools.org
○ 11th Grade - Mrs. Heather Shaw - hshaw@twpunionschools.org
○ 12th Grade - Ms. Patricia Strobel - pstrobel@twpunionschools.org
○ Attendance Coordinator - Mr. Antonio DeBellonia - adebellonia@twpunionschools.org

Building Procedures:
● Students should NOT arrive at school prior to 7:15 AM
● Students must bring their school issued ID everyday. Freshman students will receive their ID from their
homeroom teacher on their first day of school.
● The students are only allowed to enter the building through
○ Exit 1 - the Main Entrance
○ Exit 9 - Gruber Avenue (bus students only)
○ Exit 10 - Gruber Avenue
○ Exit 23 - the Rock Entrance
● While students stand in line to enter the building, they must remain 6 ft apart. There will be designated
spots to stand in line.
● Many hallways have been clearly marked with one-way arrows. Students must adhere to the direction
specified in each of these areas.
● Students will NOT have access to lockers.

sessions, break out sessions, and support sessions unless approved by the student’s vice principal. Students
that do not have their cameras on will be marked absent for the class period.
● Students should arrive to their classes on time and avoid congregating in the hallways.
● Students should abide by the behavior policies outlined in the student handbook.

to ensure the safety of staff and students.

● Students will remain on a half day schedule as outlined below. It is my hope students will take advantage
of the student support time and resources available to them.

While this may seem a bit overwhelming, please keep in mind that my intention is to keep you well informed and
our students safe. The district will be following all CDC guidelines and will remain in communication with the
Union Health Department. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. I speak on
behalf of Union High School when I say we are very excited to be back and cannot wait to see our hybrid students in
person and continue high quality virtual instruction for our remote students.

Sincerely,
