NARRATIVE REPORT

April 17, 2008 at around 2:30 pm BSN Sec. 6 Health Care 2 students headed by
our professor, Ms. Nerceilyn N. Parulan went out of school to go visit Brgy. Elysian,
Marulas,Valenzuela City. The visit is for ocular inspection and spot mapping of the said
community.
The class walked to I Bank and crossed the street. They rode a jeep going to the
street opposite of “Auto gas station”. The class had been completed at around 3:00pm.
When all are in the said meeting place, each group was instructed to explore and make a
draft spot map for Brgy. Elysian, students should be back at the same meeting place
afterwards.

Elysian can be said as an urban community for the reason, people’s occupation
here is non- agricultural. The 2 components of a community are present. The Core and
Subsystems. The Core represents the people that make up the community. We encounter
many people such as adults, and children. The Subsystems are as follows: a.) Housing.
Most houses in this community are made up of plywood while some are made from
bricks and composed of 2 floors; b.)Education. School facility for kinder students is
available. c.)Transportation and Safety. They use “tricycles” as means of transportation.
d.)Politics and government. Political structure is present in the community headed by a
Brgy. Captain. e.)Health. Health facility like Health Center is present. f.)Communication.
Most people use cellular phones to communicate. There is presence of loading stations in
every store. g.) Economics. Occupation of the people here are non-agricultural. It’s
moreover of jeepney drivers or tricycle drivers. h.)Recreation. A basketball court is
present for recreational activities.

The community has scattered garbage in a vacant lot and sidewalks. Drainage
system is clogged and full of mud. There are some trees and plants in different areas of
the baranggay. Most part of Brgy. Elysian, houses are squatters area-liked, which were
made from light materials like plywood. However, some of the houses are brick-made,
consisting 2-3 floors. Occupation probably of some residents here is considered white
collar. A small chapel is found near the basketball court. There is also a small store
selling gallons of mineral water. Roads are cemented. No seen locally endemic diseases
in this community. Presence of Drug Store, Bakery and Junkshop found. In over all,
baranggay Elysian could be considered as a healthy community, moreover, people in
baranggay Elysian are nice and approachable.
