To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing this reference at the request of Connor Thames, who is applying for
admission to your university. I have known Connor for the past two years, having
served as his math teacher at Satsuma High School. Mr. Thames was in my Pre Calculus
class last year, and he is currently enrolled in my AP Calculus AB class. Based on his
work ethic, grades, punctuality, attendance, and class participation, I rate Connor’s
overall performance in my class as exceptional. He is eager to take on new academic
challenges, and it is evident by his words and actions that he holds himself to a high
standard in his academic pursuits.

Connor is a dedicated athlete and he is a valued team member of Satsuma High

School’s varsity football and baseball teams. It is apparent that his athletic pursuits have
honed his teamwork, communication, and leadership skills, and those skills are apparent
in the classroom.

Connor not only has a superior academic and athletic record, but he also consistently
demonstrates exceptional character. He is a young man of integrity, kindness and
humility, which is a rarity in today’s culture. Connor has a positive demeanor and he is
a pleasure to know. It was no surprise to me to see that he volunteered for hurricane
clean-up in his spare time.

Connor Thames is a well-rounded, exceptional student, whom I have no reservations in

recommending. He has my enthusiastic endorsement, and I am confident that he will
