Levels of Technology Integration:

☒ Infusion Level: Students may work at a higher Bloom’s Level, but they do not have any “Voice or
Choice” during the activity and most of the decisions are made by the teacher.

☐ Integration Level: We would like to see ALL lessons/activities reach this level. The project is
student-driven and student-led. Students should have “Voice and Choice” in the activities,
selecting the topic of study and determining the technology tool to demonstrate mastery of the
standard. The teacher becomes more of a facilitator.

☐ Expansion Level: The projects created are shared outside of the classroom, publishing student
work and promoting authorship. This could be reached by showcasing the project on the school’s
morning newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, or publishing via an outside source.
Your student’s projects must be shared locally or globally to meet this level.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL): This lesson is an introduction to everything meaningful in the
United States of America. It’s important for every student to know what each American symbol
means, and how valuable it is to America’s history. This opens up the door to the beginning of Social
Studies, and encourages students to want to learn more about America’s history. By using Padlet for
this lesson, students can learn the symbols in a more graphic and exciting way. Every symbol is
organized with a reflection of the symbol, and a picture to remember it by. Students can also create
their own timeline in the classroom after they’ve reviewed the Padlet timeline. This lesson will help
students understand how important America is, and will help them remember the important

symbols of our country.

Lesson idea implementation: For this lesson, students will be introduced to the important symbols
of the United States. Teachers will be pulling up the Padlet and showing every student what each
symbol of America stands for. Each symbol will be talked about thoroughly, along with props for
teachers to use while they’re discussing the symbols. Students will also be able to learn the pledge of
allegiance in this lesson, along with learning the Star-Spangled Banner. At the end of the lesson,
students will hopefully be able to understand what each symbol means. I’ll have students create
their own paper timeline of the symbols with the correct term under each symbol, so they can go
home and show their parents the importance of America.
Reflective Practice: I believe that this lesson will open the door for students and encourage them to
want to learn more about the history of the United States. In Kindergarten students just learn the
basics, but if it’s taught creatively, then students will be more excited to learn. I think learning about
the American Symbols is a positive activity that helps students expand their knowledge. To further
the learning of this lesson, I can show students BrainPop videos and activities to expand what
they’ve already learned. Students can even do these activities at home with their families, so they’re
not only learning at school.
