Abstract
This article depict development of technique of GPR for the measurement of total moisture content at coal either
through temporal and spasial. Measurement technique the developed is technique of reflection profiling
acquisition by determining orientation both of antenna unshielded to yield the polarization of propagation
perpendicular to bedding plane of seam coal and place direct both of antenna above outcrop coal ( figure 1) at
same of rank of coal which is definition with path length 6.05 m ( figure 2) while at outcrop coal with different
of rank of coal by lateral with path length is 3.12 m ( figure 3) used by geometry height of antennas is 0,1 λ (
figure 3 a).

Usage of this technique with frequency of antenna 100 MHZ where the analysis of using attribute interval have
succeeded determined of total moisture content in seam coal at sameness rank of coal where by lateral zone 1
having compared to higher total moisture content of zone 2 due to result of analysis of proximate ( laboratory
test) by channel sampling ( figure 4, 5 ). To result of clear process that quantitatively due to amplitude value of
zone 2 the magnitude intensity storey level of compared to higher of zone 1 where the value show highly lower
total moisture content of seam coal by lateral ( figure 6 ). While from attribute interval to entire trace focussed
at seam coal for time window ( 4.2 ns - 22.5 ns) can more show total moisture content lateral variability of
seam coal and according to after validated with result testing of laboratory ( analyse of proximate) (figure 7 and
7a). While to clarify boundary of lateral difference of the physical used by phase spectrum analysis where value
phase angular of average vertically to entire trace focussed at seam coal for time window ( 4.2 ns - 22.5 ns)
hence earning seen clear of boundary area of lateral between coal of high total moisture content with coal of
total moisture content low where lower right side the phase angular value of expressing high amplitude value
while the boundary area of expressed by the happening of phase inversion ( figure 8 and 8a).

For the determined of seam coal which by lateral differ rank of coal also succeed to be conducted by using
frequency of antenna 200 MHZ where because of this traverse line do not be conducted by analysis of
proximate ( test of laboratory) hence boundary information of rank of coal obtained from PTBA and data drill
closest ( figure 9 ). As for process result earn seen that ( figure 10) visually still difficult differentiate between
coal of antharacite ( left side) from trace 1 - 50 and coal of dry coal ( right side) from trace 51 - 104. Because
amplitude intensity and pattern either through lateral and vertical cannot quantified directly, more than anything
else phase angle able to be used for determined of seam coal boundary by lateral. To overcome this problem of
usage attribute interval in the reality can differentiate expressly due to measurement of peak of amplitude value
at coal of anthracite ( trace 1 - 50) is 726,53602 DN happened at trace 11 while at coal of dry coal ( trace 51 -
104) peak of value of is 380,74705 DN at trace 56 and 598,15242 DN at trace 90 (figure 11). Thus can be
concluded by that because of peak of value yielded amplitude is result of from level average assess per trace
and per sample hence can clarify that total moisture content for the coal of lower anthracite far than coal of Dry
coal. While to determine boundary area by lateral between both rank of coal earn determined by using phase
angle value where frontier both of rank of coal at trace to 52 with phase angle value - 1.4012 radian of trace to
53 with phase angle value 1,15244 radian (figure 12).
