Q: I have mismatched/broken/seamed female body textures. What can I do?

A: Female textures should appear smooth with no seams or texture breakages. If you feel your
female textures look incorrect, please ask in support and someone will be able to provide you
with images of how female body textures SHOULD look. Ensure you have installed step 2 mods
EXACTLY as instructed in the Tribute Edition PDF. This includes installing CBBE first, then
Merged Fixes exactly as instructed. There are very specific instructions for how to install
Merged Fixes properly based on using NMM or MO2 that MUST be followed closely to achieve
the intended results. After ensuring you have installed both CBBE and Merged Fixes exactly as
instructed, make sure that CBBE.esp is placed BELOW Merged Fixes.esp.

Q: I am building city plans or settlements in Abernathy Farm, Sanctuary, and/or Red

Rocket and am starting to get frequent CTD’s. Why is this?

A: There is a concept called the Triangle of Death between these three settlements where if you
let any of the three settlements overbuild and begin to overlap into the territory of the other
settlements, you will start encountering frequent CTD’s in this area. You have to be cautious
when building in these settlements so as to not allow overbuilding to occur. Baka Scrapheap
from the Tribute Edition PDF should help mitigate some of this, but even using it you may
eventually reach a point of no return where you may be forced to start a new game due to the
severity of the settlement overlapping.

Q: All or certain specific textures are entirely pink or pixelated. What causes this?

A: Make sure you have no texture mods installed beyond the guide (texture mods CAN be
used/added AFTER you finish installing the guide and have ensured everything looks/functions
correctly through testing). If using only BRB texture packs as intended and this is still occurring,
you are having a corrupted texture issue from the step 1 texture repack process. The best thing to
do would be to redo the step 1 texture process ensuring you carefully follow the steps as they are
outlined in the Tribute Edition PDF. For this reason, it is good to keep the WorkBase folder as it
is with Original BA2’s (if you have the space for it) in case you want to rerun this process
without having to reinstall the game.

Q: I am getting frequent CTD’s right at the start of the prologue/pre-war sequence. Is

there a fix for this?

A: Although this is covered in great detail in step 0 of the guide, I will reiterate how vitally
IMPORTANT it is for you to disable NVFlex if you have a NVIDIA RTX graphics card. If this
is enabled in your ini’s, you WILL crash when using a NVIDIA RTX card. From the guide:
Copy and Paste the following into your Fallout4Custom.ini or edit the line if it already exists!
[NVFlex]
bNVFlexEnable=0
Q: I am using/want to use Vortex with the guide. Is this supported?

A: We do not support Vortex with this guide. As is stated at the start of this guide you must
choose between Nexus Mod Manager or Mod Organizer 2. Vortex is NOT the same as Nexus
Mod Manager and Nexus Mod Manager is still actively supported via the GitHub community
fork linked in the guide. If you insist on using Vortex instead, we unfortunately will not be able
to support your install or assist with troubleshooting.

Q: I accidentally launched the game via Fallout Launcher or Steam instead of F4SE.
What should I do?

A: If you are using MO2, you SHOULD be safe. If using NMM your ini’s were almost
certainly reverted to vanilla. In either case, it is a good idea to go back and redo the BethINI
steps from Step 0 of the guide over again from the start.

Q: Should I use cyberdanz patches or schnips patches and wrye bash and can I use them
all together?

A: As is stated in the Tribute Edition PDF, you can only use Cyberdanz patches OR Schnips
patches plus Wrye Bash NOT ALL OF THEM TOGETHER. Each Cyberdanz patch lists its
guide mod requirements so if you do have all the mods listed next to each Cyberdanz patch
installed then you can use Cyberdanz patches. If you decided not to use some yellow optional
mods, use Schnips patches and Wrye Bash instead. If using Schnips patches you MUST also
create a bashed patch using Wrye Bash as instructed. If using Cyberdanz patches, you DO NOT
need to create a bashed patch using Wrye Bash.

Q: Something about a section or install instructions in the guide is confusing me. What
can I do?

A: If after reading a section or install instructions for a specific mod you still are confused about
something that isn’t addressed here, please feel free to just ask for clarification in chat. We
always welcome and appreciate feedback on how any aspect of the guide can be made clearer

Q: Should I launch and test the game while I am in the middle of installing the guide and if
so, how often?

A: You ideally should launch and test the game after installing all the mods in a part/section.
Go around and test the new features added by the mod in each part to ensure they are functioning
correctly. This also helps isolate issues/CTD’s to an incorrect install of a mod or mods from a
certain part of the guide.
Q: I am getting random issues/CTD’s unrelated to any of the above questions. Is there a
solution?

A: Make sure you have sorted your load order correctly. Correctly sorting load order is VITAL.
There is a recommended load order at the bottom of the Tribute Edition PDF that you should use
to ensure all the mods you installed are sorted correctly. You can also look at the loadorder.txt
here in pinned messages to compare for a final load order to see if you need to rearrange any
plugins or add any essential plugins that were missed. If you have additional plugins or are
missing plugins compared to the load order shown in pins or the guide, feel free to ask in support
for clarification on what you may have accidentally added/incorrectly installed or missed.

Q: Is it safe to add mods outside of the guide? Is it best to add them during or after
installing the guide?

A: Always wait to finish installing and testing the guide mods FIRST before you install mods
outside of the guide. We ask that you ensure that you have tested all guide mods on their own
and have everything in working order before you attempt to add mods outside of the guide as it
becomes increasingly difficult to troubleshoot when you add mods before even verifying that
you have correctly installed the guide. A great starting point for mod ideas is BRB’s
compatibility database (https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/articles/1551) which outlines a
large variety of mods on whether or not they are compatible with the guide. It is slightly
outdated so if you have any mods you would like to double-check for compatibility just ask in
support! We are often able to provide necessary patches for mods outside of the guide in support
as well.

Q: Can I use SS2 (Sim Settlements 2) with this guide?

A: As of the time of this writing (11/5/2020) Sim Settlements 2 is a very new mod with many
issues and bugs to iron out on its own before even considering compatibility with the guide. We
recommend you stick with SS1, namely the 3-in-1 pack already included in the guide, until such
a time that the kinks are worked out with SS2 and we are properly able to test and ensure
compatibility of SS2 with the guide.
