1. Define the following terms:
 Spirituality- it includes a sense of connection to something bigger than
ourselves, and it typically involves a search for meaning in life. As such, it is a
universal human experience—something that touches us all. People may
describe a spiritual experience as sacred or transcendent or simply a deep sense
of aliveness and interconnectedness.

 Spirituality involves the recognition of a feeling or sense or belief that there is
something greater than myself, something more to being human than sensory
experience, and that the greater whole of which we are part is cosmic or divine in
nature.
 Spirituality means knowing that our lives have significance in a context beyond
a mundane everyday existence at the level of biological needs that drive
selfishness and aggression. It means knowing that we are a significant part of a
purposeful unfolding of Life in our universe.
 Spirituality involves exploring certain universal themes – love, compassion, and
altruism, life after death, wisdom and truth, with the knowledge that some people
such as saints or enlightened individuals have achieved and manifested higher
levels of development than the ordinary person. Aspiring to manifest the
attributes of such inspirational examples often becomes an important part of the
journey through life for spiritually inclined people.

 Charism- the Greek word charisma means "favor" or "gift." In English, it has
been used in Christian contexts since about 1640 to refer to a gift or power
bestowed upon an individual by the Holy Spirit for the good of the Church. (This
sense is now very rare.) The earliest nonreligious use of "charisma" that we know
of occurred in a German text, a 1922 publication by sociologist Max Weber. The
sense began appearing in English contexts shortly after Weber’s work was
published.

 Congregations- an assembly of persons, especially a body assembled for
religious worship or habitually attending a particular church. The word occurs
more than 350 times in the King James Version of the English Bible, but only one
of these references is in the New Testament (Acts 13:43). As it is used in the Old
Testament, congregation sometimes refers to the entire Israelite community, and
at other times it means a gathering or assembly of people.

2. What is the difference between spirituality and religion?
 Religion is a specific set of organized beliefs and practices, usually shared by a
community or group. Spirituality is more of an individual practice and has to do
with having a sense of peace and purpose. It also relates to the process of
developing beliefs around the meaning of life and connection with others. For
example in playing a game, the rules, referees, other players, and field markings
help guide you as you play the game in a similar way that religion might guide
you to find your spirituality. However, without having to play on the field or with all
the rules and regulations, can also give you fulfilment and fun and still expresses
the essence of the game, similar to spirituality in life. People may identify as
being any combination of religious and spiritual, but to be religious does not
automatically make you spiritual or vice–versa.
3. What are examples of spirituality?
 Linda found herself constantly dissatisfied with her life and overly stressed about
little things. She decided to take a beginning meditation course and found that
practicing meditation relieved her stress greatly. Moreover, she found the
teachings at the meditation center gave her a new perspective on life and over
time, she found herself feeling more focused and balanced.
 John is the father of a young child with a life-threatening illness. He realized that
even though he would not wish this disease on anyone, he would never have
known how important his congregation was if it hadn't occurred. John was deeply
moved by the support he and his wife and child received from their rabbi and
members of the congregation during the child's long illness. He said he learned
"what was really important in life" through the experience. Just knowing that
others cared what happened made the experience more bearable.
 Gertrude was diagnosed with breast cancer and was terrified that she was going
to die. Her fear was affecting her ability to sleep, which further affected her
health. Her pastor recommended that she pray her favorite psalm while recalling
God's abiding presence and worked to help her connect with God once again. As
she did so, her fears eased and she relaxed into healing.

4. How does the Bible define spirituality?
 Biblical spirituality can be defined as the process of the divine restoration and
healing of the broken relation between the Triune God and humanity. As such,
biblical spirituality is the response of a repentant human heart and mind to the
loving heart and mind of God (1 Cor 2:12R13; Rom 8:14). God created us in His
image with the capacity to communicate with Him in a personal relationship. This
3 capacity and relationship were fatally distorted by sin (Gen1:27; 3:1R9). It is
God who calls us to Himself, vivifies the lifeless spiritual capacities of the sinful
human heart and leads us to know, love, depend upon and obey God (Gen 3:9;
John 17:3; Col 1:21R23; Eph 1:17R19; 2 Pet 1:2R3). Initiated by God, biblical
spirituality is a conscious walk with God in which we enjoy His awesome
presence, and live in dependence upon Him. The Holy Spirit, through the Holy
Scriptures, reveals to us the deep things of God (1 Cor 2:9R10; Eph 3:14R20;
4:13), our sinfulness and lost ness, and our need for the Savior Jesus Christ who
took upon Himself our sins and died in our place (John 3:16R17; 16:8R11).

5. Is spirituality related to God?
 Yes, considering God as our creator and the most powerful is the reason why
we have our spiritual life. Its purpose is to be connected with Him, to help
other people and to appreciate all His creation. Spirituality means faith with
our God. God wants us to have a good spiritual life because it can bring
peace until the end of our lives. This is an individual practice, and has to do
with having a sense of peace and purpose. It also relates to the process of
developing beliefs around the meaning of life and connection with others,
without any set spiritual values. Spirituality recognizes that your role in life has
a greater value than what you do every day. It can relieve you from
dependence on material things and help you to understand your life’s greater
purpose. Spirituality can also be used as a way of coping with change or
uncertainty.
6. How do you practice spirituality?
 Spirituality includes your spiritual practices or spiritual disciplines, which may
include prayer, meditation, chanting, breathing exercises and ceremonies or
rituals. Spirituality and your spiritual life also include your daily interactions
with other people.
 I always practice regular prayers to increase my spiritual development or
communication with a higher power. Also, after praying I meditate too, trying
to weigh all the things that I did in the whole day especially in the evening,
whether I did good that pleased God or I just add sins in my life.
 Also, if there is an opportunity I make sure that I am giving to others, sharing
my blessings because I know there is someone out there that needs my help.
 I think going to church is the most effective practice when it comes to
boosting my spirituality because it is the closest place to God, I can talk to
God, thank Him and everything. It is where I am close to Him.
 I know that our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit so I am trying my best to
avoid anything that can harm my body.
