WATER RESTORATION
• Today we averaged around 87 psi. The storage tanks are still gaining throughout the distribution system.
We are making steady improvements each day. And, our crews are still making good progress on repairs
to confirmed water main breaks.
o We are gauging progress by measuring the psi (pounds per square inch) in the water distribution
system. The goal is to reach ~ 90 psi at OB Curtis WTP and ~80 psi at JH Fewell WTP. When the
winter weather came through, psi dropped to 37 resulting in water outages throughout the City of
Jackson and City of Byram.
• The City of Jackson has officially received clearance to lift the precautionary boil water notice on its 16K
well water connections served by the Jackson Maddox Well System. This primarily impacts residents in
South Jackson, City of Byram and City of Terry in the following zip codes:
o 39170
o 39212
o 39154
o 39209-Jackson Customers Off Maddox and Wiggins Road
o 39272-Byram Customers on the West Side of I-55 South
• The precautionary boil water notice for the City’s 43K surface water connections is still in effect. Timing
to begin sampling on the surface water system remains to be determined. A setback at the plant on
Sunday, March 7th delayed this process and the City is working with the Mississippi State Department of
Health to determine when sampling can begin.
• We estimate fewer than 500 connections in the city are still experiencing low or no water pressure. Again,
these are pockets of South Jackson that are at higher elevations. It is also possible that some of these
residents are experiencing meter issues or broken pipes in their homes due to the storm. Our team
continues to investigate and find solutions.
• Reports of new water main breaks/leaks have tapered off to a normal cadence. Our crews continue to
work through the list of 120 water main breaks/leaks since the winter weather came through. 78 have
been repaired/addressed, 8 are ready for repair, and 34 are awaiting confirmation. An updated list is at the
end of this document.
