Adding external templates

• Problem: default directory for templates is hidden SOLIDWORKS 2016\templates

Cumbersome addition of external templates (e.g.: UNE templates)

BOM: Bill of materials

• Creation: Insert > Table > Bill of materials

2- Choose table template (to override default)
• Item no. default: order of insertion into assembly

Item no. is automatically updated in balloons

BOM: Filling cells

• User-made parts: Cells of BOM can be automatically filled in


1- Create part: template with custom property
2- Type in value: File > Properties > Custom
