TOPIC 1: Should celebrities get involved in international politics and economics?

It is believed that famous people should participate in global political and economic issues for the
following reasons. First of all, they have thousands of fans and supporters, national and perhaps
international ones. So, it is understandable that the noted names are able to raise public awareness
about the cases made by the groups that they represent quickly and easily. As a result of it, if a
campaign had the involvement of celebrities, it would stand a better chance of success. For instance, the
“Jubilee 2000” campaign, by using Bono and other famous people to persuade people all over the world
to sign their online petition, had managed successfully to push wealthy countries into cancelling a large
part of poor-country debts. To sum up, it is insisted that celebrities should engage in worldwide issues as
they can help better the world.

TOPIC 4: Are demonstrations a waste of time?

It is believed that “protests” is an useful and effective lobbying tactic for the following reasons.
First of all, demonstrations form an extremely closer relationship among campaigners than other
methods, both physical and mental one. Actually, when people gather and talk face to face, they can
understand one another better, they know exactly what they are demanding for. Therefore, the
protesters might feel more enthusiastic and inspiring to fight against the opposers, no matter how
powerful these peole are. For instance, the demonstration in Hong Kong in 2019, despite lasting for
several months with much injury and damage, had successfully pushed the goverment into canceling the
decision to allow extradition to mainland China. To sum up, demonstrations would never be a watse of
time if the campaigners were closely-connected and patient.

It is undeniable that organizations which use the internet for their lobbying activities has had great
impacts on the whole society. First of all, they can raise people’s awareness of the case that they are
making quickly and easily. Actually, campaigners can make annoying social issues be highlighted to the
public by using email to send videos or pictures about these to them, just in a short time and with no
difficulty. Receivers then can see how bad the world is, how it has been affected their life and this surely
will generate much support towards the senders. Furthermore, with the online crowd’s help, the
lobbyists might be able to demand authorities to introduce or change policies that benefit the less
powerful and suffered people who they are aiming to help, perhaps even the lobbies. The more
influential these groups are, the more people they can voice for. To sum up, it seems to me that the
forcefully online campaigners are in efforts to better the world in which humans are living.

In recent years, many campaigners have considered online petitions as a new and very effective
lobbying weapon for the following reasons. First of all, e-petitions are an easy and inexpensive way to
get the world out. Actually, just by inserting those papers into emails and sticking certain pictures or
vidoes hightlighting the case made , the lobbies can send to millions of people, just in a short time, with
no difficulty. More than that, when getting widespead help, these influential documents can force
authorities to introduce or change policies that benefit less powerful and suffered people who the
lobbyists are aiming to help. For instance, with a record of 25m worldwide signatures, the petition raised
