Lesson Aims:
 To develop listening skills

Materials: textbooks, tape, tape recorder
Possible drawbacks: - Ss may be confused by some new words

Activity 1 (speaking, reading)


Aims:
 To introduce the topic of the lesson
 To prepare Ss for the reading activity
 To raise awareness of the meaning of new words

Procedure Interaction Timing


T asks Ss to predict the topic of the lesson with the help of the title T Ss 2 min.

Ss are, then, asked to tell what they know about the environment Ss ►T 5 min.

T explains to Ss that they will listen to a radio programme about
life on other planets. Ss are asked to share information on this
topic. Ss express opinions and information related to the topic Ss ►T
Listening
Ss listen to the radio programme and while-listening they make Ss ►T 5 min.
notes by solving ex. 3b. T checks the notes and their correctness.
Post-listening
T elicits the understanding of the text that the Ss have listened to. Ss ►T 5 min.
Ss solve ex.3 c, d.

Activity 3 (speaking activity)


Aims:
 To discuss and express opinions

Group discussion about the existence of life on other planets and Ss Ss 10 min.
how Ss would feel about leaving Earth to live somewhere else.

Activity 4 - Homework
Aims:
 To enlarge their views and imagination
 To practise writing in English on an interesting topic

T gives home assignment: Ss will have to write an account about a T Ss 3 min.
