In the last century, many psychologists have been studying humans’ emotions in
life, and how they can be affected by the external environment and interpersonal
relationships. People generally deal with arduous situations in everyday life, because
emotions play an important role in our psychological state. However, some scholars
disagree on this, and claim that emotions moved to the background since people can
afford a psychologist to solve their emotional problems. Life becomes more difficult to
deal with emotions for two noticeable reasons: stress and consumerism.
To begin with, current life has a negative impact on our emotions due to stress
and consumerism. Systems in our society are made to stress people at incredibly
levels. For instance, workers always live distressed because of responsibilities in their
jobs; they have to present documents, arrive early ,or those who live in big cities might
deal with high traffic. All of these issues provoke a anxiety , nervousness and even
depression. Another way our emotions can be affected is by consumerism. Humans
are always exposed to advertisements on TV and social media. Sometimes people are
led by their ‘positive emotions’ and fall into debts to buy goods they do not even need.
For example, they tend to change their cars every three years even if the automobile
works perfectly.
Admittedly, some scholars state that people's lives can not be affected by
emotions because we can pay for a psychologist or a therapy; but, this is not true
since not everyone is able to afford one. Moreover, we live in a society under a system
which set the rules ,and whether we want it or not, at some point our emotions are
conditioned by the external environment and the interpersonal relationships. Unless we
live alone, away from urban areas, life in current times can be difficult to deal with our
emotions.
Taking everything into consideration, humans’ emotions in life are affected by the
external environment and the interpersonal relationships. There are some scholars that
disagree with this point. Nevertheless, current life has become more to difficult to deal
with our emotions due to consumerism and stress
