1. What are the steps in business process improvement?


 1. Identify the Business Processes you want to improve

2. If you need to improve a business process in ISHRM, what would that be and why?

3. Identify the five stages of group development? Explain briefly.


 Forming- This stage presents a time where the group is just starting to come together and is
described with anxiety and uncertainty. At this stage, group members are learning what to do,
how the group is going to operate, what is expected, and what is acceptable.
 Storming- The stage is when members start to have conflicts and would experience strong
disagreements. This is the stage where the dominating group members emerge, while the less
confrontational members stay in their comfort zone.
 Norming- In this stage, the group becomes fun and enjoyable. Group interaction are lot more
easier, more cooperative, and productive, with weighed give and take, open communication,
bonding, and mutual respect.
 Performing -At this stage, the morale is high as group members actively acknowledge the
talents, skills and experience that each member brings to the group. A sense of belongingness is
established and the group remains focused on the group's purpose and goal.
 Adjourning- This is the stage where a group’s disbandment happens and not all groups
experience this. The usual reasons of disbandment are non-accomplishment of tasks or when
individuals go on their own ways as they experience feelings of closure and sadness.

4. What is group dynamics and why it is important?


 Group Dynamics- it means that an organization will function best when employees function not
as individuals but as members of highly effective work groups with high performance outputs. It
can be used as a means for solving problems, team work, and to become more innovative and
productive as am organization as a whole.
 Why it is important?
Knowing group dynamics can help us determine how people interact inside their group and
interact with other people or groups. We can see how people behave in groups versus
individually. It help us know more about a group's motivation, actions, and preferences.

5. How is business ethics different from business etiquettes?


 Business ethics is the study of appropriate business practices and policies. It tackles how a
business should act in ethical predicaments and controversial situations. This are the moral
principles that act as guideline for the way a business conducts itself and its transactions.
 On the other hand, business etiquette is a set of general guidelines for manners and behavior in
a professional setting that allows professionals to feel comfortable and safe at work or in other
professional settings. Sometimes, they are vaguely termed customs or traditions.

6. What are the six ethical principles in business?


 Integrity- is the quality of having strong ethical principles that are followed at all times. A
professional individual with integrity acts with honesty, honor, and truthfulness.
 Respect – One of the general rules is that regardless of titles, ages, gender, race, positions or any
other differences, everyone should treat everyone with respect. A respectful attitude shown by
an employee should be standard in the workplace regardless of personal feelings or conflicts.
 Honesty- refers to a facet of moral character and connotes positive attributes such as integrity
and truthfulness. It builds trust with colleagues and clients.
 Accountability- is an assurance that an individual or a company is evaluated on their
performance that is related to something for which they are responsible in the corporate level,
accountability and transparency are generally considered the two main pillars of good corporate
governance.
 Leadership- is the capacity of a company’s management team to set and achieve challenging
goals and make sound decisions. It is like having the ability to see a problem and be the solution
to the problem at the same time.
 Fairness- is connected with actions, processes, and consequences that are morally right and
honorable. It is treating people with a standard of performance that is consistent based on your
commitments. Fair individuals are inclined more towards justice and ensure that the people are
equally treated.

7. Select two of the five supervisory skills that you think are the most important. Explain?
 Leadership – One of the most important skills of supervisory is leadership skills. It plays the most
vital role in the achievement of the organizational excellence. An organization without a leader
is like a ship without a captain. He is the one guiding the sails. He/she is able to inspire other
individuals to achieve a high level of success and they set the tone for their business or
organizations.
 Time Management- This skills is essentially the ability to organize and plan the time spent on
activities in day. The result of good time management is increased effectiveness and
productivity. It is a key aspect of project management and involves skills such as planning,
setting goals and prioritizing for a better performance.

8. Explain the four problem-solving stages?


 Define the Problem – Before any action can be taken to solve a problem, it needs to recognize
that a problem exists. This serves to focus to search for relevant information, from which it can
write an accurate description or definition of the problem. It needs to analyze the company,
operating procedures in your organization, as well as the behavior of the employees.
 Compare all possible solutions – Workable solutions are developed by combining and modifying
ideas and a range of creative techniques are available to help in this process. The more ideas
you have to work with, the better your chances of finding an effective solution. It requires
critical thinking in analyzing the best possible cure to a problem. This stage is important because
it needs to look closely to all the possible solutions. These following factors should be consider
before making a decision.
- Company resources together with the employee’s time and effort.
 Choose the solution- This is the stage at which you evaluate the possible solutions and select
that which will be most effective in solving the problem. It's a process of decision making based
on a comparison of the potential outcome of alternative solutions.
 Implement your solution – Implementing a solution is the culmination of all efforts and requires
very careful planning. It does not start and end at the time when the solution is implemented.
- Create an action plan
- Share the solution to appropriate employees
- Monitor what happens after the implementation
- Control anything that goes wrong within the implementation.

10. Differentiate intrinsic from extrinsic motivation. Give 3 examples each.


 Intrinsic Motivation – It is something that drives the individual inside himself.
Examples: 1. Feeling of accomplishment
2. Enjoyment and satisfaction in doing an activity or task.
3. Sense of purpose.
 Extrinsic Motivation – It is an outside source that drives the learner to accomplish a task for
something or to perform a behavior or engage in an activity to earn a reward or avoid a
punishment.
Examples: 1. Awards
2. Prestige
3. Recognition
