The document discusses building drawings and sectional views. It explains that a sectional view is created by imagining a building cut vertically along a line, separating it into two portions. This cut line is indicated on the plan and the direction of the sectional view is shown with arrow heads. The sectional view shows vertical dimensions and details like foundation, flooring, openings, roofing, and stairs. Examples of sectional details for a roof, window, door, and ground floor are provided. Finally, trainees are asked to draw the sectional view for a provided single room plan.

• Section is also known as vertical section/sectional elevation/cross
section.
• It is imagined that a finished buildings is cut vertically along a line
so that the building is separated into two portions along the imagined vertical plane from top of the building to the lowest part of foundation. • The line, which is drawn on the plan to indicate the section, is called sectional line and represented by A-A, B-B, A-B or X- X, X-Y etc.
• The arrow heads shall be marked to indicate the way in
which the sectional view is to be drawn. Major Elements to be Shown in a Section View The necessity of the section is to indicate all the vertical dimensions – Foundation details (total breadth, thickness of each consecutive layers) – Details of flooring (thickness of each layer comprising the floor) – Height of super structure – Sizes of doors, windows, almirahs and other openings – Thickness of roofing (slab thickness, lime concrete thickness etc.) – Width and depth of parapet wall – Lintels height and thickness – Stair(s)/ steps details (flight section details if stair lies along the section line and flight elevation if stair is in front of section line) – Sunshade length, depth and other details. Sectional Details of Roof Sectional Details of Window Sectional Details of Door Sectional Details of Ground Floor The plan of a single room one storied building is given. Assume plinth height = 1ft. Foundation depth and width below GL = 2 ft and 2 ft 6 inch respectively. Draw sectional view of section X-X. Section: X-X Actual Plan Plan w.r.to your position
