Can you single out one of the character traits of Theophile

Verbist and tell, then, how this may have contributed to the
eventual success of his missionary initiative?

Mission work must have been a big sacrifice for early missionaries. Fr.
Theophile Verbist worked for some years in his diocese in Belgium. Then came
his inspiration to work for abandoned children and the poor in China. However,
mission work in China would be different. He would have to learn the language,
understand and adapt to the culture, and have the physical stamina to work in a
harsh
environment, but
this did not stop
him, for he has
this character trait
of eagerness to
help others who
are in need.
Though not a
canonized saint,
the fact that his
foundation has
full-grown to what
it is now is
testimony to the
love and work of
Father Verbist and
the power of the
Holy Spirit within
him. "For one who
loves, nothing is difficult." Father Theophile Verbist dedicated himself and lived
by that command and inspired others to do likewise.
