UNIT 1

It´s the weekend!

Lesson Objectives:
1. To learn the different weekend activities that, we can do.
2. To know how to formulate affirmative, questions and negatives sentences in simple
present.
3. To learn the different adverbs of frequency and when we can use it in a sentence.

DEVELOPMENT

When we do many different activities during the week, like work, study, organize classes,
exams. We would like to different activities to relax us, like to play football, go shopping,
camping, go to the beach, visit a farm.

The simple present is used to talk about things that usually happens. Also, is used with adverbs
of frequency how usually, always, sometimes, etc. [1]

 Affirmative sentences:
Subject + Verb (infinitive) + Complement
For example:
- I study every day.
- They work in the morning.
- You learn English.
- We watch TV every day.
- She cooks in her house.
NOTE: It´s very important to know when we want say or write a sentence with third person, we
add S or ES (sh,ch,sx,z) at the end of the verb in infinitive.

For example:
- He eats at 2:30 pm.
- She works in her house.
- He plays football.
- She likes flowers.
- She goes on car.

 Negative sentences:
Subject + do (auxiliary verb) + not + verb (infinitive)

For example:
- I do not talk about it.
- He does not eat meat.
- You don´t learn Math.
- She doesn´t sing her song.

 Interrogative sentences:

Do (auxiliary verb) + Subject + verb (infinitive) +?

For example:
- Do you speak English?
- Does he eat rice?
- Do they learn French?
- Do we play basketball?
We use adverbs to describe how often frequently we do an activity. These are called adverbs of
frequently and include:

Always You always go to bed after 10 p.m.
Usually I usually have milk for breakfast.
Normally/Generally You normally go to the gym.
Often She often surfs the internet.
Sometimes He sometimes visits me at home.
Occasionally I occasionally eat junk food.
Seldom You seldom read a magazine.
Hardly ever / Rarely They hardly ever drink alcohol.
Never She never swims in the sea.
