 Levels of diversity

o The level of diversity in Conrad Manila is both Surface-Level and Deep-Level. That is because
Conrad Manila has diverse employees which have different ages, gender, ethnicity and even
nationalities. At the same time, their employees have different values and beliefs, personalities
and work preferences. Having a very diverse workforce is much suited for an industry such as
the Hotel Industry since they get a diverse range of guests that can check in.

 Types of workplace discrimination

o We know that in the workplace we experience a discrimination in very part of the different kind
of industry, also we need to be aware that it will going to happen and is not avoidable, in the
present of discrimination maybe some are not aware that the action they do will have a big
impact to the person who experience it like the sexual harassment no matter what position in
the workplace you are in whether a man or woman and the age is doesn't matter everyone will
experience it. There is a possibility that theses workplace discriminations are also present like
the Influence of Discriminatory Policies or Practices, Intimidation, Mockery and Insults, Exclusion
and Incivility.
 Differentiating characteristics

o In biographical characteristics, they are pertaining to personal characteristics such as the age,
gender, race/ethnicity and the length of tenure - especially in a hotel wherein the employees
must have been looking good and formal, professional in a way of how they talked, how they
execute their assigned tasks in such a way that the employees are seen as well trained.

o In deep-level characteristics, they are pertaining to religion, sexual orientation, gender identity
and cultural identity - simply because each person has their own perspectives and own ways on
how to deliver in many terms and in many aspects.

o For the abilities, this would be requiring both physical and intellectual abilities like in selecting
the right person for specific jobs. Because in a workplace especially in a hotel, you will assigned
in various tasks of job that will need your thinking, reasoning and problem-solving capability and
will demand your stamina, strength, dexterity and other similar characteristics, in short, you will
be productive.

 Diversity strategies and approaches

o As for Conrad Hotel, we think they are using their diversity strategies and approaches in terms
of giving a standardized service to their guest/s because it is simply shows what they are aiming
for, what their mission and vision are for. They define organizational values and policies - they
know what they are aiming for, they are adopting employee relationship management system -
wherein employees can create and develop good relationship towards each other, they
develop a diversity management training program - wherein they can help their employees to
learn about different cultures and help them to develop their skills in managing cultural
diversity issues which is unavoidable, they optimize cultural diversity training - it involves on
how employees will understand, reflect and realize culture at all levels and they use a language
bank - a program that workers are available to interpret different languages to other workers
who needs a translator, it helps to better understanding and communication between the
workers who has a different language.

o What we can suggest is that they use most of the different diversity strategies and approaches
as their workforce is diverse and know how to handle a culturally diverse group of guests
without showing disrespect to the guests ethnicity, race, culture, beliefs etc. And also that they
should maintain what is in their organizational structure because it is working, it is a successful
move for their organization so better to continue it and if there's one thing that needs to be
improve again then strike a bell like conceptualize a plan, make it approve then work on it.
