EIMCO Rotating Sedimentation Equipment

We are a leading manufacturer of rotating

sedimentation basin equipment for water
treatment. Centrally raked sedimentation basins
are the simplest, most versatile and most reliable
means of handling solids collection. With
treatment standards for potable water becoming
more stringent and the quality of source waters
deteriorating, the flexibility and superior
performance of rotating mechanisms have
become a valuable resource for water treatment
professionals nationwide.

As treatment processes become more complex

and the demands on equipment more severe,
we stand uniquely prepared to provide the water
treatment industry with proven rotating
mechanical systems and the process expertise
to ensure their optimum performance.

2
Clarifiers

We design and manufacture

circular clarifiers for every
flow rate and treatment
application. Depending on
basin size, the drive
mechanism and rake arms
may be suspended from a
bridge or supported on a
center column. A box truss
center cage or torque tube
transmits torque generated
by the rake drive to rake
arms, which sweep settled
solids to a central sludge
pocket for discharge.

Standard Equipment on
all Clarifiers Includes:

· Drive Mechanism
· Platform and walkway
· Center Cage and rake
arms
· Feedwell (except for
crossflow applications)

Optional Equipment
Includes:

· Large Diameter
feedwells
· Metalwave™ stainless
steel feedwells
· FlexKlear™ inclined
plate settler modules
· Weirs
· Controls

Square Basin Clarifiers

Our Clarifier mechanisms are ideally

suited for efficient flow control and
solids collection where construction
economy dictates the selection of
square settling basins. Both center
feed and cross flow designs can be
accommodated with the appropriate
selection of launders, feedwell and
corner collection arrangements. Solids
accumulation in basin corners can be
handled most efficiently with sloped
grout filleting. Pantograph rake
extensions are also available.

4
Flocculating Clarifiers

For conditions requiring

flocculation within the clarifier,
we offer two types of
flocculating clarifiers designed
to provide gentle, thorough
mixing for maximum floc
formation. Both types combine
a large diameter baffled
feedwell and low-speed
flocculating paddle arms.
Type BF and CF flocculating
clarifiers use specially designed
counter-rotating paddles to
provide gentle mixing without
inducing high, localized shear
forces. They are particularly
suitable for light to medium
strength floc.

5
Reactor-Clarifier TM Solids-Contact Mechanisms

Our Reactor Clarifier™ solids-contact

units combine chemical addition and
mixing, solids-contact flocculation,
clarification and raked sludge removal
in a single basin. They provide
efficient removal of hard-to-settle
suspended solids and are ideally suited
for lime softening. A low-speed
turbine maintains a large volume of
flocculated solids re-circulating within
the conical reaction well. Influent
water and chemicals are introduced
directly into the re-circulation stream,
optimizing chemical utilization and
floc growth. Heavy particles settle out
and are collected by the rake arms,
while clarified water passes to the
clarification zone for collection in the
launder system.

7
Sludge Thickeners

Our water treatment sludge thickeners

provide reliable, economical
concentration of water treatment
sludges. They differ only in scale from
our heavy-duty mechanisms used
widely in mineral processing and
metallurgical applications. Bridge
mounted drives are cost-effective for
basins up to 75-ft. in diameter. Column
supported drive units are recommended
in larger basins.

Standard Equipment Includes:

· Drive mechanism
· Platform & walkway
· Feedwell
· Center cage and rake arms

Optional Equipment
· Rake arm pickets
· Weirs
· FlexKlear™ inclined plate settler
modules
· Influent and discharge piping
· Controls

Arm Lifts
Bridge-supported thickeners are
available with rake arm lift
mechanisms for reliable overload
protection and start-up assistance
after service interruption. Lift
controls can be tied to the drive
torque sensor for automatic
engagement in case of upset. An
audible overload alert can also be
supplied. Sludge thickeners with
automated lifting devices are
particularly appropriate for lime
sludge thickening applications.
