A Treatment for an Advert Package

Tropical Rush Perfume


Blurry Lemonade

TREATMENT

VIDEO ADVERT

Our Video advert begins with different shots of our actor sat in chair on a beach, wearing summer clothes,
with different summer-themed objects on a beach blanket. The weather is sunny and should convince the
audience it’s summer. The first 25 seconds contain a range of wide, medium, and close-up shots of the
scenery and actor.

In the middle of the advert another person shows up and interrupts a shot of the first person sat on the chair,
and the “reveal” moment is when we see that the other person is wearing a thick coat, meaning it’s actually
around winter time. This was done to show that the scent of the perfume is so strong and well-made it makes
you feel like you are somewhere tropical, and makes it clear that our slogan “The perfume that takes you
across the world” is a metaphor and doesn’t literally transport you somewhere tropical. The person in the
coat then looks at the person in the chair and gives them a look of disapproval and continues walking.

The advert ends with more shots of the actor in the chair and a blurred out shot of them dancing, with our
perfume name and bottle over the top, along with our tagline, a “buy now” sticker as part of our call to
action and our Instagram username.

RADIO ADVERT

Our Radio advert has 3 different voices speaking and opens with up-beat music and seagull sounds, when
the first voice starts talking saying that our perfume will leave you feeling tropical and describes what fruits
the fragrance smells like. Then the second voiceover says the tagline, “tropical rush, the perfume that takes
you across the world”, followed by the sound of an airplane. The third voice then speaks, telling the listeners
to follow our Instagram @tropicalrushperfume to find out more, and ends with more music and seagull
sounds, as you would hear on the beach.
SOCIAL MEDIA

For our Social Media Campaign, we have chosen to use Instagram as our platform, as it has over 1 billion
users and most of its target audience is young adults, which is the exact people we hope to reach with our
product.

For our first post we will be posting an image of our poster, as the bright colours and tropical images could
be a good way to introduce our theme and concept, as well to launch our product. We will post a photo from
the photoshoot from the filming day of the video advert, then followed by our video advert, as videos entice
and intrigue audiences more than pictures or audio. We want to post an image of the perfume bottle by itself
to give viewers a clear image of what they should expect and to keep them interested.

We will also regularly update our story with footage from the behind the scenes of the video advert, will
include our posts and polls to keep our audience engaged. Everything we post on our story will be saved to a
main highlight so that people can look back on it, or even new visitors can see what we’ve posted.

POSTER

The poster is simply an image of the perfume bottle over a background with tropical palm trees. This
background image will also be on top of a blurry background of scenery with palm trees from a distance.
This is to help make the image on top stand out more and the contrast of the purple colour of the blurry
image with the green-blue colours of the other image will make the poster look brighter and more colourful.
The use of the blue-green-yellow-orange gradient can be seen in the tagline “The perfume that takes you
across the world”, and the background colour for the bottle label. These colours are repeatedly seen
throughout the campaign to match our colourful theme, and they resemble the colours of a beach scenery;
the sky, sea, and sand with a sunset-like effect.

The perfume name “Tropical Rush” is placed at the top in bold letters with a fade effect on the text. Our
slogan is below the title, and the hashtag #lifeistropical below the image with the perfume bottle, and in the
bottom left corner of the poster we placed our Instagram account username.

LINKAGE

Throughout our Campaign there is a clear tropical/exotic theme, focusing on beach scenery and tropical
imagery such as exotic fruits, plants, and trees. We will use a range of bright colours, especially the sunset-
themed colour palette with cool blues, greens, and a lot of yellow and orange. The video and radio advert
contain beach sound effects and shots of the sea and sunlit beaches.
