Strengths

Using the Instrument for Measuring Leadership Effectiveness (GCU, 2020) to do my

self-evaluation for my internship, I was able to identify the elements that I am performing well.

These elements include ELCC standards 2, 5, and 4. They are focused on relationships with the

stakeholders at the school/community, and how the culture and environment mesh with my

morals and ethics. As a teacher, I feel that these are my strong suits, so I feel that it is

corresponding while I am in a leadership role as well.

Needed Improvements

The leadership elements that I need improvement on are ELCC standards 6, and 1. These

elements focus on the operational aspects that go with leading a school. I feel that it will be

better assessed when we start working on the budget for upcoming school year. I will be able to

learn some valuable things looking at the social, legal, political, and economics that go along

with making decisions while focusing on the school’s mission and vision.

Action Steps

The actions steps that I plan on doing to improve my leadership skills is to first meet with

my mentor and plan strategically to focus on the elements that need improvements. Hearing her

perspective, we can then plan activities out for my internship that will support my areas of

improvement. I plan to attend meetings discussing the budget for next year in hopes to improve

my areas of improvement for my leadership.
