A. Introduction

● Before starting split students up into half and half

● Can anyone tell me what we have been learning about this week in social studies?

● Give them time to answer then bring up we learned about being a responsible and
respectful to one another

● We are going to watch a video about being responsible, safe, and respectful

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGQAp2PY8yY

● In this video we saw how responsible, safe, and respectful students were

● This is because they used responsible classroom citizen behavior

● Do you guys think that adults have responsible classroom citizen behaviors also?

● Let them answer, if they say yes praise them, if they were wrong correct them

● Yes, but they not only use these in school, but they use them outside of school also

B. Development (I Do)

● If a sub were to do this plan, they would follow the plan but when presenting this next
slide, they would have to speak as they were talking about me

● The teacher will pull up the slide of Ms. Gentile’s Behaviors as a Responsible Citizen

https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1XLXfGk_m4Jrant0kEcGNwT_Jr92bMe
sm1PfoUxEwMDg/edit#slide=id.p
● The teacher will present the slide

● The page only has the title and a bitmoji on it

● The teacher will have to touch the board for the behaviors to pop up

● The teacher will press the board and read the first behavior

● “I keep my hands and feet to myself”

● The teacher will press the board and read the second one

● “I wait to speak when someone else is talking”

● The teacher will press the board and read the third one

● “I use my inside voice when indoors”

● The teacher will press the board and read the fourth one

● “I cover my mouth and nose when I sneeze”

● The teacher will press the board and read the fifth one

● “I do not interrupt when my friends are speaking”

● The teacher will press the board and read the sixth one

● “I walk in the hallways”

● The teacher will press the board and read the seventh and final one

● “I treat others the way I would like to be treated”

● Now we are going to switch it over to you guys and talk about your behaviors as
responsible classroom citizens

We Do

● The teacher will have a PowerPoint on Responsible Classroom Citizen Behaviors Vs.
Irresponsible Classroom Citizen Behaviors

https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/19j45bdcU3O41N1V9F3_DsnedPopPh
3VaXRLtM4pieTs/edit#slide=id.g1f5a554dbf_0_404

● We are going to play a game this side of the room against the other side of the room

● The winning team gets stickers of their choice when we are done

● There will be a card that shows up on the smartboard

● I will ask you whether you think that the card on the smartboard is a responsible
behavior or not a responsible behavior
● If you think the behavior is responsible stand up and if you think the behavior is
irresponsible sit down

● This first card says “Follow directions” do you think it is a responsible behavior or not
responsible

● Ask the students to sit or stand

● When done show the answer on the next slide and tally points

● The next card says “Run in the hall” do you think it is a responsible behavior or not a
responsible

● Ask the students to sit or stand

● When done show the answer on the next slide and tally points

● The following says “Best Effort”

● Ask the students to sit or stand

● When done show the answer on the next slide and tally points

● Continue to go through the whole PowerPoint until it is over

● Now on your desks there is a paper on your desk that says Behaviors for Responsible
Classroom Citizens Worksheet

You Do

● I am going to read the directions out loud to you all

● Let’s do two other and the rest will be independent work

● The first card says “Take Turns” would we circle this, or would we cross it out?

● Wait for the students to answer the question, praise them if they are right and correct
them if they are wrong

● The second one says “Leave a mess” would we circle this, or would we cross it out?

● Wait for the students to answer the question, praise them if they are right and correct
them if they are wrong

● Now you guys will finish the rest independently

● Once you guys are done flip it over

C. Closure

● To end our lesson I would like to do a “We promise to” Chart

● Here I have written things that we as a class will promise to do because we learned
about behaviors for responsible classroom citizens
● It reads:

We Promise To:

Treat others the way we want to be treated

Be quiet in the halls

Keep our hands to ourselves

Share with our friends

Be a good listener

Raise our hands before talking

Follow directions

Do our best work

Make good choices

● I will be posting this paper outside

● The reason I made you all trace your hand and write your name in it was to

● We are going to take our handprints and put them all around our “We Promise Paper”

D. Accommodations/Differentiation

● For students who are ELL I can have the YouTube video closed captions on for their
language

● For students who are visually impaired, I would allow the students to sit closer to the
board OR have the PowerPoints printed out for the student to follow along with
