For Reviewing: 1

1. The first paragraph in the introduction is not very related to the research topic. It should be simplified or
deleted.

The first paragraph in the introduction has been simplified by 4 lines

2. The title of Table 1. ‘Recommanded fonts’ is very puzzling. It’s better to be ‘Applications of bond
graph’?

the title of table 1 has been replaced, it is already mentioned in the text

3. A lot of figures like Fig.9 are not clear. Please provide figures with high resolution

the figures from 1 to 16 have been revised for more readability and sharpness according to format 300 *
200dpi

4. The figures in the text should be appeared in sequence. Line 1-2, P5, Fig.8 should be followed by Fig.9,
not by Fig.16.

the mention of fig 16 has been replaced by the good Fig 9. the others have been checked in their location at
text level in a successive way

5. The bond graph modelling is the critical idea of this study. However, the authors only present some
figures for that. I cannot see the use of graph modelling of the hybrid pumping system. The authors
should illustrate more on the meaning of the bond graph modeling. For example, in Fig.8. Buck
Converter models (a) Electrical model of the Buck converter, (b) Bond graph model of the Buck
converter. The bond graph model is just another presentation form of the electrical model. What new
useful information can be indicated from bond graph model in contrast to the electrical model?

A sentence has been added to clarify the determination of the average bond graph model for the case of our buck
chopper:

« The development of the average bond graph model of the buck converter is widely treated in our work
[27] [28]“

The bond graph is a modeling tool that differs from other modelling tools that combine equations with block
diagrams, with the graphical approach, we have direct information on power and energy transfer to each
component of the chain power in closed-loop to achieve maximum real-time performance, we have an off-grid
hybrid pumping system site with random sources. This aspect is essential for the study of energy systems which
is our case, so, I have just added this part to highlight the advantage of bond graph compared to the classical
modeling (mathematical and/or block diagram) in paragraph 2 :

“Our pumping system is hybrid because of the use of converters and multi-sources of random nature and
its modelling is complex (multidisciplinary). Moreover, comparing with the classical modelling approach
(equations and block diagrams), the bond graph present, in all readability, the energy transfer from the
sources to the pump. The junctions 0 and 1 allows us to introduce, with flexibility, detectors to follow in
real time the power at the input and the output of each system component and to judge on the total
efficiency in order to have its maximum value more to the actions of the controls adopted.”

6. The publication ‘Modular modeling of air-conditioning system with state-space method and graph theory.
International Journal of Refrigeration, 2019, 99(3): 9-23’ should be discussed in the introduction.

The highlights of this publication have been added in the introduction with reference [29] :
Other modelling approaches of energetic systems have been developed in the literature namely graph
theory as [29] whose author has presented the state-space method used for modular modeling of Heating,
Ventilation and Air-conditioning components, as well as, a dynamic model has been established

For Reviewing: 2

1. The article is quite clear, although in some parts it needs a revision both in terms of punctuation and
language. The innovative contribution in terms of research is not well described and it does not capture the
reader's curiosity, while much text is devoted to formulations.

The punctuation and the language are revised with http://wileyeditingservices.com. The
introduction and the part 2 are revised by additional information to explain the originality of our
contribution and defend the choice to use the bond graph

2. Furthermore, the paper could be integrated by other references, more recent and better organized and
described. Note that the References 1 to 8 are not included in the text.

Other references were added in the introduction, the reference 1 to 8 are inserted in text by adding this paragraph
in the introduction:

“Hybrid systems are an interesting solution for the electrification of isolated consumers. In particular, the
possibility of including renewable energy sources is increasingly appreciated [1-3]. Moreover, the
complexity of the description of dynamic operation and the classifications of pumping stations and the
multiple parameters involved in these systems have forced researchers to develop simplified models based
on different approaches [4-5][27] [28].”

3. In the section 4 (Performance results and discussion) Authors state that they tested the behaviour of two
structure. Interpretations of the results and conclusions do not justify the effectiveness of the proposed
system. To this purpose, the reviewer asks to the Authors to dedicate more space to the presentation of a
real case study, which shows the characteristics and layout of the analysed system (with relative connections
to the network), clearly showing what are the advantages by adopting the proposed energy scheme.

this paragraph has been added in section 4 :

“Experimental tests carried out for typical months of the year show that our pumping structure powered
by multi-sources (photovoltaic-wind-battery), not connected to the electricity grid, presents an
optimization of energy, This is ensured by a maximum power point tracking system (MPPT) for both
random energy sources (photovoltaic and wind). This optimization is based on PI regulators and limiters.
The battery regulator is not the subject of this study. We note that the amount of water pumped is largely
exceeds to that obtained by a photovoltaic pumping structure which allows us to preserve the quantity not
used by the consumer.”
