Relaying Commands and Request Using Indirect Discourse
MATERIALS:
Comic strips, flash cards, Show Me Boards, Laptop, LCD projector,
powerpoint presentation
III. PROCEDURES
A. MOTIVATION
Play a game called Simon says.
The pupils will do what Simon (the teacher) will ask them to do.
B. REVIEW
Use flash cards/show me boards. Write R if the statement states request and C if it
shows Command.
1. Listen attentively.
2. Please keep your things in order.
3. Avoid making too much noise.
4. Stop going around please.
5. Observe silence.
D. LESSON PROPER
-What kinds of sentences were used?
Command Request
“Lock your room before leaving, Jim.” “Please polish the floor, Mang Ambo.”
The teacher gives request and command statements. Fill in the blanks the missing words to
complete the sentences. Letters A to D.\
A. Mary said, “Eric, water the plants”.

E. GROUP ACTIVITY
Play a game called Message Relay.
Pupils will be grouped into 2 groups forming a line. The teacher will say something to the
first pupil. The pupil will relay the message to the person behind him and so will the next
one to the person behind him. When the message has been relayed to the last person in
line, the last person will run forward to tell the message in an indirect course.
