NARRATIVE REPORT ON SIMULTANEOUS SCHOOL-BASED

CONDUCT OF THE NATIONAL DISASTER EARTHQUAKE DRIIL

There has been a lot of uncertainty over the past few months due to Covid 19.Work environments
are adopting and changing.Schools are now doing education the new normal way. It seems like every
day,we are confronting new challenges. All while earthquakes are still happening.
In connection the Valverde National High School conducted the 1st quarter simultaneous school-
based earthquake drill on March 11, 2021 at 2:00 PM. This was also affirmed by the virtue of the DepEd
Order no. 48 s. 2012. This DepEd Order states that all public and private schools and DepEd Offices are
enjoined to undertake the quarterly conduct of National School-Based Earthquake and Fire Drills.
Before the actual drills, we watched the online pressing of buzzer and opening program sponsored
by the Office of Civil Defense. I, as the school DRRM Coordinator disseminated to the learners through
social media the information about the occurrence of earthquake as well as the standard operating
procedures to be done during and after an earthquake and the need to carry out a drill to enhance the
students’ awareness and preparedness on the said phenomenon even at this time of pandemic
Finally it was indeed a success. Preparation and anticipation are key strategies on reducing disaster
risk.
