We use the Present Simple to talk about:

 Permanent situations.

 Scientific facts.

 State, not actions, emotions or need e.g. like,
believe, know, want, think, need…
She doesn’t like vegetables.
Adverbs of frequency :
Always- usually= generally= normally- often-
sometimes- seldom= rarely= hardly ever- never
Other expressions of frequency:
Every …; once / twice a day; three times a week
How often..? Do you ever…?
PRESENT CONTINUOUS
We use the Present Continuous to talk about:
 Something that is happening now or around the
present time.
They are cooking a paella at the moment.
 Temporary situations.
He’s visiting his grandparents in Barcelona.
 Changing or developing situations.
The number of car accidents is increasing every year.
 Future arrangements.
We’re playing a football match next Sunday at 10:00
Expressions with Present Continuous:
Right now, now, at the moment, currently
Tomorrow, next …, in two days time,
on+ day of the week (any time expression related to
future)
