SAR MISSION COORDINATOR- COURSE OUTLINE

COURSE DESCRIPTION
T his course is desig ne d to provide stude nts w ith a n in-depth un derstan ding o f aeronau tica l an d/or
m aritim e search a nd rescu e (S A R ) activities as part of the S A R M ission C oord in a tor (S M C )
responsib ilities un der a Joint R escue C oord in ation C e ntre (JR C C ), a n A erona utic al R escue C o ordination
C entre (A R C C ) or a M aritim e R escu e C o ordination C entre (M R C C ) It prim arily fo cuses on a ll S A R
activities from the in itial ons et of an incident until the co nclusio n of a m issio n. T here is exte nsive
academ ic instructio n w h ich inclu des practical han ds -on exercises plus a fu ll three days of active
sim ulations w hich are specifically create d for the local environ m en t an d local reso urces. It is ta ilor-m ad e
based on e ach gro up of stu dent’s area of resp onsibility . T his course is an abso lute necessity for a ny
personn el eng age d in R C C operatio ns. It is a P ass/F ail course w ith both w ritten a nd practical
exam inations.

fixed-w ing/ rotary w ing P ilot or A ir N avig ator w ith a m in im um of 7 years flying S A R operatio ns.
