HUMAN BODY SYSTEMS

Science
PRE TEST
1. Which example best shows structures that make up
the Digestive System in the human body?
a. Lungs, Heart, Arteries
b. Brain, Spinal Cord, Nerves
c. Stomach, Intestines, Esophagus
d. Nose, Lungs
PRE TEST
2. The _______________ consists of three types of muscles:
cardiac, smooth, and skeletal. With the skeletal system, this
system makes movement possible.
a. muscular system
b. skin
c. mouth/teeth
d. reproductive system
PRE TEST
3. Which pair of systems work together to bring in
oxygen into the body and deliver it to the cells?
a. Muscular System, Skeletal System
b. Circulatory System, Respiratory System
c. Nervous System, Respiratory System
d. Digestive System, Circulatory System
PRE TEST
4 The __________________ is the body's command center,
and consists of the brain, spinal cord, and nerves that bring
information to and from the brain.
a. digestive system
b. nervous system
c. muscular system
d. ears
PRE TEST
5. What three systems work together to move the body?
a. Skeletal, Muscular, Nervous
b. Skeletal, Respiratory, Digestive
c. Nervous, Circulatory, Skeletal
d. Circulatory, Respiratory, Digestive
LEVELS OF ORGANIZATION

CELLS – work
together to form
tissues.
LEVELS OF ORGANIZATION

TISSUES – work
together to form
organs.
LEVELS OF ORGANIZATION

ORGANS-
Work together to
form organ systems.
SYSTEMS OF THE HUMAN BODY
BODY SYSTEMS.
1. CIRCULATORY 7. REPRODUCTIVE
2. RESPIRATORY 8.NERVOUS
3. SKELETAL
4. MASCULAR
5. DIGESTIVE
6. EXCRETORY
CIRCULATORY SYSTEM
CIRCULATORY SYSTEM
-Contains the heart and all the blood
vessels.
-responsible for movement of blood,
nutrients, and gases.
-heart pumps blood to lungs to
receive oxygen and to the rest of the
body.
RESPIRATORY SYSTEM
RESPIRATORY SYSTEM
-responsible for bringing in oxygen
and ridding our bodies of carbon
dioxide .
-lungs, diaphragm, and windpipe.
-oxygenates our entire body.
SKELETAL SYSTEM
SKELETAL SYSTEM
-Includes bones, cartilage, and teeth.
-About 206 bones in the Human
Body
-We have Joint Bones where 2 or
more bones come together ; some
move (hip, shoulder, , knee) and
some don’t (skull)
SKELETAL SYSTEM

-We have 4 major functions.

a. Protection : protects vital organs
b. Storage: stores minerals and fat
c. Movement: muscles pull bones
move
d. Blood Cell Formation: Make
blood cells.
SKELETAL SYSTEM
3 types of Joint Bones
a.) Ball and socket joint.
like a joystick in a computer games Example:
Shoulder
b.)Sliding joint
bones glide over each other.
Example : hand
c.) Hinge Joint
like a door hinge, flex and extend.
Example : knee
MASCULAR SYSTEM
MASCULAR SYSTEM
The mascular system works with skeletal
system to provide movements.
It has 2 types of movements
1.Voluntary
muscles moves under control.
Ex. Skeletal muscles, bicep.
2.Involuntary
muscles move that w/o controlling.
Ex. Smooth and cardiac, sometimes
skeletal muscles.
MASCULAR SYSTEM
We have 3 types of muscle.
-Smooth muscle
Location: only in digestive tract &
blood vessel walls.
-Cardiac Muscle
Location: Only in the heart.
-Skeletal muscle
Location: Muscle attached to the
bones.
DEIGESTIVE SYSTEM
DIGESTIVE SYSTEM
It break downs food you eat into
nutrients for your body.
The organs known as the accessory
digestive glands are the liver, gall
bladder, and pancreas. Other
components include the mouth, teeth
and epiglottis
EXCRETORY SYSTEM
EXCRETORY SYSTEM
It releases the wastes and regulates
bodily fluids.
It is the passive biological system
that removes excess, unnecessary
materials from the body fluids of an
organism, so as help maintain
internal chemical homeostasis and
prevent damage to the body.
RESPIRATORY SYSTEM
REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM
It is a system of sex organs within
organism which work together for
the purpose of sexual reproduction.
Male: Produces sperm
Female: produces eggs and shelter
unborn baby.
NERVOUS SYSTEM
NERVOUS SYSTEM
It is the part of the body that
coordinates its voluntary and
involuntary actions and transmits
signals to and from different parts of
the body.
It receives and sends electrical
messages throughout the body.
