Hebei Normal University is a key provincial university jointly established by the

People’s Government of Hebei Province and the Ministry of Education, a first tier
higher institution with "double first class" structure in Hebei Province and one of the
receiving universities of Chinese government scholarship students. It is a high-level
comprehensive university with distinctive characteristics of teacher education. In the
year 2020, Hebei Normal University trained talents for countries along the Belt and
Road Initiative and African countries in biology, environment and education and has
played a leading role in these fields. It plans to recruit high-level talents in the field of
biology, environment in conjunction with the Chinese Government Scholarship
program.

Hebei Normal University, founded in 1902, is a key provincial university jointly

established by the People’s Government of Hebei Province and the Ministry of
Education, a first tier higher institution with "double first class" structure in Hebei
Province. Hebei Normal University is located in Shijiazhuang, the capital of Hebei
Province, adjacent to Beijing. Its disciplines cover philosophy, economy, law,
education, literature, history, science, engineering, management and art. The university
presently has 23 academic colleges and 1 independent college (Huihua College), has
doctorate authorization in 11 primary disciplines, 1 professional doctorate authorization,
master’s degree authorization in 29 primary disciplines, 14 professional master ’ s
degree authorizations and 95 undergraduate majors. Disciplines in chemistry, botany
and zoology enter the top 1% of ESI world rankings. The university now has about
30,000 students in total.

Hebei Normal University has launched extensive international cooperation and

academic exchanges, having already established formal cooperative relationships with
87 higher institutions and educational agencies from 23 countries. The level of
internationalization of education in the university has gradually improved, given the
development of relations with over 200 foreign universities in areas including
cooperative education, teacher collaboration, student exchange, online courses,
cooperation in scientific research and international talent recruitment. Hebei Normal
University accepts international students under the Chinese Government Scholarship
and the Confucius Institute Scholarship, yearly admitting over 600 short- and long-term
language students as well as degree students from Russia, the United States of America,
Italy, the Republic of Korea, Indonesia, Pakistan, Nigerian, and other countries. The
university has established 3 Confucius Institutes and 1 Confucius Classroom,
cooperatively established 1 Portuguese-Chinese bilingual high school, 1 overseas
college and 2 overseas preparatory colleges. The university has also set up Peru
Research Center, Indonesia Research Center, and Sino-Russian Far East Research
Center, making effort to establish a regional research platform.

1 Admission and application

（1） Doctoral students:

A. Major: ecology, biology,geography

B. Study duration: four years

C. Eligibility: non-Chinese; be in good health, excellent in both character and

learning. Age among 18-40 years old (Referring to September 1, 2020), for teachers in-
service the age is extended to 45 years old. Applicants should have an Chinese level
equivalent to HSK level 4 of 180 points above (for majors with Chinese as the language
of instruction), or English level equivalent to IELTS score over 6.5 (for majors with
English as the language of instruction). The highest academic degree with transcript of
each subject is good or above; Candidate with good recommendation letter from the
university or the in-service department or have academic achievements and projects in
related fields is preferred.

（2） Master’s students:

A. Major: ecology, biology,geography

B. Study duration: three years

2 Application process

B. Submit application materials online and pay attention to application process,

review comments and scholarship results;

C. The scholarship awardees should contact our university and proceed on visa
application procedures.

D. Register in Hebei Normal University at the specified time according to the

Admission Notice.

Appendix

Chinese Government Scholarship coverage and standard

The CSC scholarship includes tuition, accommodation, living expenses and

comprehensive medical insurance.

1. Tuition: it is used for the cultivation and management of scholarship students,

including cultural and social activities, but exclude the cost of teaching materials and
tickets for tourist attractions.

2. Accommodation: the university provides free accommodation, double room

for master’s students and single room for doctoral students.

3. Living expenses: paid monthly, 3000 CNY / month for master's students and
3500 CNY /month for doctor's students.

4. Comprehensive medical insurance: Please refer to the relevant regulations of

the Ministry of Education on studying in China.
