Ms. Socorro “Coring” C. Ramos started working as a salesgirl when

she was 18 yrs. old in Goodwill Bookstore. She was good at selling, that’s
why she became in charge of the store.

When she was married to Jose Ramos, they put up The National Book
Store. Her vision was to extend the National bookstore not only here in
Luzon but also to Visayas and Mindanao for cheaper access to books and
school supplies.

Before, the National Book Store was a general merchandise store.

Until later on, it was selling books, greeting cards, and school supplies.
Today, more than 70 National Book Store can be found nationwide.

For her outstanding success both in the Philippines and abroad, Coring
received the following awards:

1. Agora Award for Outstanding Achievement in Entrepreneurship

(1991);
2. DTI Outstanding Filipino Retailer Award (2001);
3. Ernst & Young’s Philippine Entrepreneur of the Year award
(2005);
4. The Outstanding Filipino Award (2006);
5. Filipino – Chinese Federation of Business and Professional
Women of the Philippines Award for Business (2007); and a lot
more.
 With all her awards and wealth, Socorro Ramos stays humble and
credits her success to values. She says there’s always something new to
learn and that successful business must always remember this.

HER SUCCESS STORY AND EXPERTISE

Miriam Santiago is politician, professor, and public servant who is

most notable for being the very first Filipino to win a seat as a judge at the
International Criminal Court.

Throughout her entire career in both the private and public sectors,
Miriam has encountered numerous enemies who attempt to bring her
down because of her integrity. There have been libelous statements made
against her, and even threats on her life, but these things have never kept
Miriam from continuously serving her fellow Filipinos. Her boldness and
courage to stand up for what she believes is right has become an example
not only for her fellow senators, but also for every Filipino that wants to
see his or her country prosper.

Because of her fortitude to stand for justice & her remarkable intellect,
she has become a recipient of numerous awards including:

1. Ramon Magsaysay Award for Good Governance (Asian equivalent

of the Nobel Prize);
2. The Outstanding Women in the Nation's Service (TOWNS) Award
for Law (1986);
3. Philippine Judges' Hall of Fame (2015);
4. Gold Vision Triangle Award for government service (1988);
 5. Quezon Service Cross - highest national recognition of the
Republic of the Philippines. (2018, Posthumous); and a lot more.

Throughout her life and career, Miriam has epitomized the ideal
Filipino because of her constant desire to become successful in life.
