    Listening Activities

    1. Watch the video “A day in the life of a tour guide” and complete

    Hi, I’m Louise. I’m in New York. I’m from England. I’m here to learn about the life of a tour guide.

    Peter Green Wolf is a New York tour guide. He lives in a small apartment in Brooklyn. He usually
    gets up at 8:00 0’clock. Peter has a big breakfast. He usually has fruit and cereal and sometimes
    he has an omelet. He leaves the house at 9:00 o’clock. Peter works for a company called Real
    New York Tours. His tours always begin in Times Square. Every morning he ______ there by
    subway.

    Peter usually arrives at about nine forty five. He meets his group and talk them about the tour. At
    10:00 o’clock the tour begins. Peter takes them to place of _____ all around Manhattan.

    They have lunch in Greenwich Village. Peter usually has a real New York pizza.

    The tour ends in Wall Street. After work, Peter takes the subway back to Brooklyn. Then he
    relaxes. He usually reads a book. Sometimes he watch tv. He goes to bed at about 11:00 o’clock.
    He needs to sleep. Every day he walks about 6 miles.

    2. Listen to Josh and Emily talking about what they like doing on vacation and fill in the blanks with
    the options given in the box

    Josh: Let’s go on vacation together Emily. What do you like doing on vacation?

    Emily: Well, I love (1) Sunbathing and (2) Swimming. How about you?

    J: Hmm, well I don’t really like Swimming (3) sunbathing or but I love (4) Snorkeling and (5)
    Kayaking. I sometimes like to (6) Take a class or to (7) Visit museums to discover more about
    where I am.

    E: Really? I prefer (8) Reading novels and (9) Eating out and (10) Drinking wine and (11) Dancing.
    Nothing cultural for me.

    J: What about sightseeing.

    E: I like (12) Sightseeing but not too much.

    J: And (13) Camping. Do you like camping?

    E: No really. I hate (14) Shopping and (15) Cooking when I’m on vacation. I just want to relax

    J: Those are the things I love doing on vacation. Hmmm


    3. SPEAKING: Work with a classmate and record the previous dialogue. Try to change some of the
    activities mentioned to make it more personal
