Fig5 2-84.08 28 GTEN SCANIA serviceHose connections + Drain coolant. ~ Remove flange pipe under radiator (by- pass line). ~ On trucks with charge-air cooling the boss on the flange pipe, where the filter is to be connec- ted, has to be cut off by approx. 9 mm, to pre- vent the elbow union from being fitted too close to the charge-air pipe. > Drill and tap hole for elbow union 3 with thread NPTF 3/8" - 18. - Apply thread seal to thread of elbow union and back it up in the hole, so that the hose connec- tion points aft to the left side of the truck. + Fit flange pipe. - Cut hose between thermostat housing and heater package and remove a hose length of approx. 100 mm. Fit T pipe 1 with the smaller angle towards the centre of the truck. = Cut hoses 2 and 4 to correct lengths and connect them. GPR: Clamp inlet hose in two places to panel behind bumper. Retain return hose with tie-wrap and suitable hose. See figure 1. t Clamp both hoses together on bottom flange on bumper. See figure 2 ~ Note. itis important that the hoses are connec- ted so that the flow direction through the filter is correct. The filter head is marked "IN" and “OUT”. The hose from the cab heater line must be connected to “IN and the hose to the by- ass line to "OUT". See figures 5 and 6. 4 SCANIA service ~ Fill with coolant. If there is a content of at least 25 % glycol (with inhibitor) in the coolant, no anti-corrosive is necessary in addition to what is, contained in the filter. Make a test run and check that the filter be- comes hot, which is a sign that the coolant is circulating correctly.
