LITTLE WOMEN – REVIEW

In her adaptation of Little Women, Greta Gerwig demonstrates her love towards Louisa May Alcott’s
1868 novel in every scene and also adds something more such as modern sensibility in order to make a
story of Jo March and her three sisters. In the years after the Civil War, Jo March lives in New York and
makes her living as a writer, while her sister Amy studies painting in Paris. Amy has a chance encounter
with Theodore, a childhood crush who proposed to Jo but was ultimately rejected. Their oldest sibling,
Meg, is married to a schoolteacher, while shy sister Beth develops a devastating illness that brings the
family back together.

The writers have created the script which is interesting and very funny in a lot of places. this adaptation
was updated for the modern age, which feels like a strong enough reason to watch it. Gerwig also does a
great job at capturing the romantic tone of the novel and the ambiance of the period. However, it might
get kind of confusing.

one of the most exciting things about the film is the cast. Individual scenes are superbly staged and the
cast is flawless, making the film essential viewing for lovers of the book.

The only bad thing about the film that I can think of It is kind of too stretched and it might make viewers
bored somehow, however still watching the movie is totally worth it.
