(Table 1)

This survey examined the participants' gender. This survey included 59 participants. This sample
concluded 50.9% were women, 45.3% were males, and 3.8% were other (table 1).
(Table 2)

This survey included 59 participants. The first question was based on the current age of the
participants. Every participant was between the ages of 18 and 25, concluding that they were all
young adults. We sent the survey to current students, so we’re assuming that they attend college
or graduated recently.
(Table 3)

This question was based on the ethnicity of the participants. We assumed we would have
majority black participants because we go to a school with majority black students. The survey
concluded that 96.2% were black and 1.9% were other.
(Table 4)

This question was based on the social media usage of the participants. This question was
extremely important because it was based on our hypothesis. This question concluded that 60%
use social media and 40% don’t use social media.

HYPOTHESIS

We formulated 3 hypotheses for this research project. With hypothesis 1 we proposed that when
musical artists distribute music throughout social media platforms, fans are able to listen from all
over the world. The test we conducted was within our survey and the results from the survey
showed that 42.37% of our participants said social media is how they find out about music and
88% of our participants use streaming services to access the content artists put out. With
hypothesis 2 we proposed that social media platforms allow artists to collaborate with major
brands therefore increasing the reach of both brands to target audiences. With the survey we
found out that 33% agreed to the fact that they would support a brand if their favorite artists did a
collaboration with a brand. Lastly, hypothesis 3 stated that the larger an artists’ catalog, the more
music fans can promote and share via social media. The results from the survey showed that 27%
would promote music from their favorite artists if their catalog is large.

Century using a Likert type scale. Concluding from the results seen in our survey, the average
mean falls between 1.19 and 3.86. Most of the results leaned more towards people strongly
agreeing rather than strongly disagreeing for each statement provided.
