INTRO: Good Morning everyone!

Our group will report about one of the big accounting firms in the
world, which is the Deloitte. We will discuss about first of course their history, evolution and
background, then the areas of services they are offering, their organizational structure, duties and Social
Responsibility, the ethical standards that are being observed in their firm and lastly we will show a short
video about a person who is currently working at Deloitte.

But first so I am Ashlei Coline H. Latorre and I will first discuss about their Background and History. Later,
you will know who founded Deloitte, where did Deloitte originated, How the founders discovered the
name “Deloitte”? and so on.

Page 1: As I’ve mentioned, Deloitte is one of the Big Four accounting organizations and the largest
professional services network in the world by revenue and number of professionals, with headquarters
in London, United Kingdom.
Deloitte’s main headquarter is from London, United Kingdom.

Page 2: Deloitte provides audit, consulting, financial advisory, risk advisory, tax and legal services with
approximately 312,000 professionals globally. Approximately, 312,000 people in 150 countries and
territories are employed in Deloitte. That’s how big Deloitte is.

PAGE 3: DTTL is Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited or Deloitte Global. Each DTTL member firm provides
services in particular geographic areas and is subject to the laws and professional regulations of the
particular country or countries in which it operates.
But, not every DTTL member firm provides all services, and certain services may not be available to
attest clients under the rules and regulations of public accounting.
DTTL does not itself provide services to clients. DTTL and each DTTL member firm are separate and
distinct legal entities, which cannot obligate each other. DTTL and each DTTL member firm are liable
only for their own acts or omissions and not those of each other. Each DTTL member firm is structured
differently in accordance with national laws, regulations, customary practice, and other factors, and may
secure the provision of professional services in its territory through subsidiaries, affiliates, and/or other
entities.”

So that’s the main background about Deloitte or the Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited. I hope you
already gained some short knowledge about Deloitte, like its main headquarter, how many
professionals and branches they have in the world, the relationship of DTTL and its members etc.

Let’s now proceed with their Histroy.

HISTORY

1845- William Welch Deloitte founded this firm.

1933- Colonel Arthur Hazelton Carter, President of the New York State Society of Certified Public
Accountants and Managing Partner of Haskins & Sells, testified before the U.S. Senate Committee on
Banking and Currency. Carter helped convince Congress that independent audits should be mandatory
for public companies.
1960- This entity enjoyed such a positive start that in less than a year, the partners merged with Touche
Niven and A. R. Smart to form Touche, Niven, Bailey & Smart. The organization grew rapidly, in part by
creating a dedicated management consulting function.
1972- He led the expansion of Touche Ross in that era.
1989- The merged firm was led jointly by J. Michael Cook and Edward A. Kangas. Led by the UK
partnership, a smaller number of Deloitte Haskins & Sells member firms rejected the merger with
Touche Ross and shortly thereafter merged with Coopers & Lybrand to form Coopers & Lybrand Deloitte
(later to merge with Price Waterhouse to become PwC).[22] Some member firms of Touche Ross also
rejected the merger with Deloitte Haskins & Sells and merged with other firms.[22] In the UK, Touche
Ross merged with Spicer & Oppenheim in 1990.[23].
As you’ve heard, they merged with different firms before they established their own group.

1993- At the time of the US-led mergers to form Deloitte & Touche, the name of the international firm
was a problem, because there was no worldwide exclusive access to the names “Deloitte” or “Touche
Ross” – key member firms such as Deloitte in UK and Touche Ross in Australia had not joined the
merger. The name DRT International was therefore chosen, referring to Deloitte, Ross and Tohmatsu.
1995- Now known as Deloitte Consulting

1997 was the year when Deloitte in the Philippines started.

1997- It is one of the leading professional services firms providing audit, tax, risk, financial advisory and
finance and accounting outsourcing services through approximately 400 partners, professionals, and
staff located in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Taguig, and in Cebu. Its clients come from major industries
such as banking & finance, manufacturing, transportation, technology, media, telecommunications,
retail & wholesale, oil & gas, mining, and life sciences & healthcare.
2012-The acquisition is Deloitte’s first entrance into the mobile application field
