Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited, commonly
referred to as Deloitte, is a multinational professional
services network.
Deloitte
“Deloitte” is the brand under which tens of thousands of
dedicated professionals in independent firms throughout
the world collaborate to provide audit & assurance,
consulting, risk and financial advisory, risk
management, tax, and related services to select clients.
These firms are members of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu
Limited, a UK private company limited by guarantee
(“DTTL”).
Deloitte
Each DTTL member firm is structured in accordance with national
laws, regulations, customary practice, and other factors, and may
secure the provision of professional services in its territory through
subsidiaries, affiliates, and other related entities.
HISTORY
EARLY HISTORY:

 1845- William Welch Deloitte opened an office in London,

United Kingdom. Deloitte was the first person to be appointed
an independent auditor of a public company, namely the Great
Western Railway.
 1896- Charles Waldo Haskins and Elijah Watt Sells formed
Haskins & Sells in New York. It was later described as “the first
major auditing firm to be established in the country by
American rather than British accountants.”
 1900- At the time, there were fewer than 500 CPAs practicing
in the United States, but the new era of income taxes was soon
to generate enormous demand for accounting professionals.
 1933- Carter helped convince Congress that independent
audits should be mandatory for public companies
 1960- The organization formed by president of the American
Institute of CPA in 1947 was renamed as Touche Ross.
 1972- Robert Trueblood, Chairman of Touche Ross, led the
committee responsible for recommending the establishment of
the Financial Accounting Standards Board.
RECENT HISTORY:

 1989- Deloitte Haskins & Sells in the USA merged with Touche
Ross in the USA to form Deloitte & Touche.
 1993- The international firm was renamed Deloitte Touche
Tohmatsu to reflect the contribution from the Japanese firm, as
well as agreements to use both of the names Deloitte and
Touche.
 1995- The partners of Deloitte & Touche decided to create
Deloitte & Touche Consulting Group.
 1997- Deloitte was founded in the Philippines. Navarro Amper &
Co is the local practice of the Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited
Global Network. The firm has a diversified client base in the
Philippines, which includes major multinationals, large national
enterprises, public institutions, local important clients and
successful fast growing global companies. They are a member of
Deloitte Asia Pacific Limited and of the Deloitte Network.
 2000- Deloitte acquired Eclipse to add Internet design based
solutions to its consulting capabilities.
 2012- Deloitte announced the acquisition of Übermind, Inc., an
innovative mobile agency.
