ACADEMIC GUIDELINE ON FLEXIBLE LEARNING

I. DEFINITION AND PURPOSE

A. DEFINITION - Flexible Learning is the design and delivery of programs, courses, and learning
interventions that address learners’ unique needs in terms of place, pace, process, and products of
learning. It involves the use of digital and non-digital technology, and covers both face-to-face/in-
person learning and out-of-classroom learning modes of delivery or a combination of modes of
delivery. It ensures the continuity of inclusive and accessible education when the use of traditional
modes of teaching is not feasible, as in the occurrence of national emergencies. (CHED Guidelines

B. PURPOSE

1. The purpose of this guideline is to set out the principles and processes which apply to the
courses delivered under flexible learning modalities.
2. This guideline is provided to ensure that quality education is achieved even under flexible
learning modalities.

II. CURRICULUM AND MODE OF DELIVERY

A. CURRICULUM - The school will follow the same curriculum that is used in the face-to-face mode. For
1st Year students under the bridging program, to ensure that they can still finish their program in four (4)
years in the absence of bridging courses offered last summer, they will be allowed to take major
subjects during summer of 2021 and 2022. Their sequencing of subjects will be:

B. DELIVERY - The delivery of courses under flexible learning can be done using:

1. ONLINE – through Learning Management System, videoconferencing and other platforms


2. BLENDED MODE (combination of online and offline)
3. OFFLINE - through self-directed modules
4. Face to face learning can be conducted once the government and the institution allows physical
classes on campus.
5. The delivery of programs will be based on the factors outlined in the table below. The following
guide will be used:

III. GENERAL GUIDELINES

A. ATTENDANCE

Class attendance is expected of every student even under flexible learning. Attendance will be checked
in synchronous (online) delivery. For offline delivery, a written summary of the lesson shall constitute
attendance and class participation.

B. EXAMINATIONS

All quizzes and major examinations shall be conducted online or in person at the campus. Students who
have no online access should make arrangements with their teachers on the conduct of the
examination.

C. SUBMISSION OF REQUIREMENTS

It is the responsibility of the students to submit all course requirements to earn credit for his course.
Course requirements maybe submitted online (through email or the school’s LMS), at a drop-off point
(in the school) or through a courier. Timely submission of requirements is necessary.
D. GRADING SYSTEM

The final grade of a student will be computed as:

E. ACADEMIC DISHONESTY & PLAGIARISM

Academic dishonesty and plagiarism will not be tolerated and shall be penalized in accordance with the
policy and procedure of the school.

F. RESPONSIBILITY OF THE STUDENTS


It is the responsibility of the student to:

1. Log-in to the school’s LMS regularly to review messages from teacher(s) and pending
assignments.
2. Pick-up modules, assignments and other course requirements in the school.
3. Communicate to teacher questions and problems they may have under flexible learning.
4. Complete and submit assignments and other course requirements in a timely manner and on the
place agreed upon with their teachers.

G. RESPONSIBILITY OF THE FACULTY AND THE SCHOOL


It is the responsibility of the faculty and the school to:

1. Implement mechanisms for students to receive/access printed or digital course


packages/instructional materials through courier, designated pick up points or through digital
platforms.
2. Establish means for student engagement/ communication which may include Short Message
Service (SMS), electronic mail (email), chat, instant messaging, and other means whichever is
convenient, appropriate, and available in order to ensure personalized, effective, efficient, and
timely mentoring and feedback mechanisms.
