College for Research and Technology Capstone Project 2021-2022

CHAPTER I

Introduction

1.1 Background
The Computer Systems Servicing course will show you how to manage with the most

common problems that arise when servicing personal computers. Gain through theoretical

and practical knowledge of computer hardware to learn how to diagnose a variety of

hardware, software, and network system difficulties. Graduates of this course can work in

computer repair shops, electronics companies, computer-related manufacturing operations,

computer sales and services, and even start their own repair shop.

The Computer Systems Servicing NC II qualification consists of competencies that must

possess to enable to install and configure computers systems, set-up computer networks and

servers and to maintain and repair computer systems and networks. The proponents decided

to create this project to assist students in the learning process because of the ongoing

pandemic. This project will be built using PHP as a programming language and MySQL as a

database. This project will also use Bootstrap to minimize our project down to the size of a

mobile.

Due to the pandemic, the proponents learned how difficult it is to master Computer

System Servicing as an Information Technology student. That is why we chose this project to

implement because we want to help students and share our knowledge of this course with

them. The majority of students nowadays are interested in activities that satisfy them. The

proponents consider what students want to see in order to capture their attention, and as a

result, we will make this project more interesting and eye-catching so that they are not bored

while utilizing our Online Computer System Servicing Tutorial.

College for Research and Technology Capstone Project 2021-2022

Conceptual Framework
The proponents are working on this project for Bachelor of Science in Information

Technology students of College for Research and Technology. This online tutorial will

benefit students because it will provide them with accurate information. It will also help

teachers keeping track of which students are ready to take the National Assessment.

Additionally, students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology will be able

to use this as a learning resource.

The context diagrams show the structure of the Online Computer System Servicing

Tutorial for Bachelor of Science in Information Technology students of College for Research

and Technology. The administrator will be in charge of the entire system, including all

activities. Viewing request, managing edits, updates, and deletions, assisting the student, and

record the activities of the students are all features of this system for faculty. To gain access

to the system, the student must provide their valid username and password. After logging in,

the student can begin reviewing or watching the tutorial. They can also track their progress by

checking at their records. After they review and take the quiz, the faculty will have a record
College for Research and Technology Capstone Project 2021-2022

of whether or not they passed the quiz, which will be the sign if they are ready to take the

National Assessment.

1.2 Statements of the Problem

This study sought to address the following problems about learning the Computer

System Servicing:

1. Pandemic is the main problem during this day taking NC II exam at school or

facility is a bit challenging and risk yourself by being affected by the virus

2. Distance also plays a big part taking an exam, some students live far away from

school, travelling from home to school cost a lot of time and money

3. Economy drastically down, many of us affected by it, some lost their jobs and some

students face additional constraints in terms of time availability due to competing household

responsibilities.

1.3 Objectives
General Objectives
• The main goal of this project is to develop a web based Computer Systems

Servicing NC II for the IT students that want to learn this course.

Specific Objectives

The study aimed to accomplish the following specific objectives:

 To develop online Computer System Servicing application that can assist IT students

on the College for Research and Technology campus who are having difficulty

understanding or adapting to the courses by allowing them to access an online

application where they can catch up and follow along with the lessons.
College for Research and Technology Capstone Project 2021-2022

• To create a system that will assist instructors in effectively discussing the lesson with

their students.

• To help IT students to gain knowledge and to pass their assessment.

1.4 Scope and Limitation

 This project will be built using PHP as a programming language and MySQL as a

database. We'll also use Bootstrap to minimize our project down to the size of a

mobile

 This research will serve as a guideline for students enrolled in this course. CSS

training will be easier with a mobile phone because you can access the software even

if you are at home.

 The IT students can take the quiz after they review all the COC.

 Although the application is simple to use, it cannot operate if the user does not have

connection to the internet.

CHAPTER II

Review of the Related Literature Studies

According to Randy Joy Magno Ventayen [VENT2018], the purpose of this needs

assessment is in order to determine the level of competency of primary and secondary school

teachers in Lingayen, Pangasinan as a basis for an extension program. Based on the result of

the study, the majority of the ICT coordinator of the primary and secondary schools are

competent and expert in the field of Computer Systems Servicing, because high school ICT

coordinators are the holder of National Certificate Level 2 in the field of computer systems

servicing. Initially this study is a basis of a proposed training program, but due to the positive

result, this paper also investigate the contribution of TESDA in the Department of Education.

Confirming to Arvin Duhaylungsod [DUHA2021], this research was conducted to

determine whether the skills and competencies of the ICT strand's Senior High School

Curriculum match the ICT skills needed by the various industries in Zamboanga City for

employability. The findings serve as a source of information for other senior high schools in

the Philippines from different regions. In this analysis, a Descriptive Quantitative method of

research was adopted. The results showed that the respondents highly needed (Computer

Systems Servicing NC II), (Computer Programming .net Technology NC III) and (Broadband

Installation Fixed Wireless Systems NC II) in terms of the industry's required ICT skills. In

addition, management in both industry and academia needs an advanced and competent level

of competence, as shown in their average response to an entry-level role in both common and

core competencies (Computer System Servicing NC II). The T-test result also showed that

there is no substantial difference in the level of competence of the Senior High School
College for Research and Technology Capstone Project 2021-2022

Curriculum's Computer System Servicing as required for an entry-level role in the IT

Department, indicating that the program provided by the Zamboanga City Senior High

School agrees with what the industry needs.

In accordance with Shella Mae Pareja [PARE2021], the importance of educational

technology in the learning and teaching process could be emphasized. The designed game-

based courseware's purpose was to provide teaching and self-drill-and-practice for

understanding computer system servicing terms and concepts. This interactive courseware is

a new addition to the learning and teaching process that will be extremely beneficial. The

study's conceptual framework was used to organize and categorize a wide range of material

that defines the scope of education and the principles of game-based courseware. It is

essential to concentrate on lessons acquired in Computer System Servicing in order to take

advantage of the chances presented by produced game-based courseware.

As stated by Arman Bernard Santos, Dan Michael Cortez, Melvin Ballera and  Myra

Santos [SANT2021], technical Vocational seems to progress in terms of delivering

competency based training, learning at your own pace, achieving specific learning objectives

and both the institutional and national competency assessment. This study focused mainly in

improving technical vocational skills competency which includes training and assessment

under information and communication technology strand. In order to improve the said

criteria, implementation of decision tree along with its attribute selection measures such as

entropy, information gain, gain ratio and gini index have taken place. Level and impact of

skills competency training and assessment through computations of the attribute selection

measures have yielded to a more conclusive and detailed improvements in the field of

information and communication technology. Likewise, this study gives an idea to the

Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and majority of the
College for Research and Technology Capstone Project 2021-2022

training center and institutions on how to deliver the competency based training and at the

same time to absorbed the enumerable criteria accustoming the main stream of skills.

As stated by Wei-yuan Zang, Kirk Perris and Lesley Yeung [ZANG2005], to improve

the remote learning environment, the Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK) provides 199

courses with online characteristics. These courses have been designed by the university to

give students more flexibility in interacting with tutors, classmates, and the topic itself. The

current study examines the perspectives of OUHK students enrolled in courses with online

tutorial help in order to better understand these challenges. The following five primary areas

were investigated: Internet access, technology perceptions, justification for using the Internet

in course work, tutoring tactics employed online and perceptions of online tutorial help.

As reported by Meirani Harsasi and Adrian Sutawijaya [HARS2018], education

system nowadays tends to utilize online learning, including in higher Online learning system

becomes a major requirement in implementing learning process, including in Indonesia.

interesting issue that needs to be explored is to analyze factors that can influence students’

satisfaction in online tutorials. This research aims to analyze factors that determine student

satisfaction in online tutorials and what factors that need to be Research procedure includes

collecting data via email, validity test, reliability results of research procedures to find out

what factors are affecting student satisfaction and some improvements required based on the

viewpoint of the students.

In accordance to Doris Bolliger and Supawan Supanakorn [BOLL2011], The effects

of learning styles on learner perceptions of interactive online tutorials were investigated in

this study. Learners were divided into five types of learning styles and four types of learning

modalities. To determine disparities depending on learning styles, gender, and class standing,

responses to a questionnaire with four survey dimensions were analyzed. Researchers looked

at whether the variables and survey dimensions had any links, interactions, main effects, or
College for Research and Technology Capstone Project 2021-2022

associations. The lessons were thought to be useful, accessible, well-designed, and helpful in

completing assignments by the majority of students. The researchers discovered substantial

main effects for gender and learning style, as well as gender and perceived usefulness.

Learning styles and gender had a statistically significant association.Learning styles and

student perceptions of the use of interactive online tutorials

According to Susan Silver and Lisa Nickel [SILV2005] Online tutorials seem like an

obvious solution to meet the growing need for instruction to users in a time when resources

are shrinking. Can librarians effectively teach library skills using an online tutorial?

Approximately 300 students enrolled in an undergraduate psychology course at the

University of South Florida Tampa Campus attended either a library research class or

completed an online tutorial as part of their coursework. Participants were given a post-test

and were surveyed about their confidence levels and preferred method of library instruction.

Analysis of the test scores indicated that there was no significant difference in the learning

outcomes between in-person and online library instruction. The majority of students indicated

a preference for online instruction over classroom instruction. A rise in confidence levels was

noted across both groups.

As reported by Tian Belawati [BELA2006], attending face‐to‐face meetings within

regular scheduled times is not feasible for most working students. Similarly, disseminating

academic administration and information on time has also been very difficult to do since

students are scattered throughout the country. The recent development of ICT as well as its

infrastructure in Indonesia has opened up a possibility for UT to provide its students with a

fast, reliable and affordable two‐way communication channel. In accordance with this, UT

piloted the use of ICT (specifically the Internet) to provide online tutorials to its students. It

was expected that students taking advantage of the online tutorials would contribute to higher

completion rates and achievement than those who did not. This paper reports the findings of
College for Research and Technology Capstone Project 2021-2022

that pilot project, which show that student participation in online tutorials does indeed

improve course completion rates and achievement.

According to Golam Muradul Bashir, Abu Sayed Latiful Hoque and Bipul Chandra

Dev Nath [BASH2015], learning PHP is more effective if a student can learn through a real

environment. Problem-based learning (PBL) is an effective pedagogy used to increase the

problem-solving skill of the students. Existing PHP learning systems support limited

problems in real-life environment. In this work, we have integrated the conventional e-

learning of PHP with the PBL pedagogy to improve the problem-solving capability of the

students. On the web server, students can practice and submit answers pertaining to the

problem with the help of the relevant references, urls, examples, and standard output. This

system helps the students to engage in self-learning of PHP based on the real problems.

CHAPTER III

Methodology

In this chapter the proponents will discuss the flow of Online Computer System

Servicing NCII Tutorial. Using the Gantt chart the proponents shows the plan for the whole

system project by dividing it and explain every phase to make it more understandable and

organize. The proponents also create three figures which is the V-Model, Context Diagram

and ER Diagram, the purpose of this figure is to discuss the tools that will be use which is the

Php for the code, MySql for the database, HTML V4.4 and CSS for the design and also the

figure for the process of the whole system.

Figure 3.1 Gantt Chart

Illustrated on this Gantt chart is amount of Month of tasks done in a certain period of

time for the development of the project.

Planning

The planning phase, the proponents was made a plan for the project. In this phase, the

Introduction, Review of Related Literature and Methodology was included in this phase of

planning.

Interview and Research

In this phase the proponents schedule to conduct a one on one interview to the

students of College for Research and Technology that will be a big help to the development

of the project.

Review of Documentation

This phase will conduct by the proponents to review all the requirements and to

formulate to next process that will be needing to develop the project.

Design and Coding

The proponents start the coding in developing the interface, the whole system will

start to work on the 2nd week of January until last week of March. On designing the system,

developers choose to use the following: (1) PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor; to create a

scripting knowledge about the server and the user, (2) Bootstrap; for responsive, mobile-first,
College for Research and Technology Capstone Project 2021-2022

and front-end frameworks. (3) HTML V4.4 and CSS for personalization of design, and (4)

MySql for the database.

Implementation

The final phase is the implementation phase where the system is built. This include

the system construction where the system is being test to ensure its good performance as well

as it designed. At the end, the final system is deliver to the project sponsor.

Figure 3.2 V-Model

In this figure of V-Model its shows the step of how the system flows or the processes
happen in the way of V-shape and to make the system more possible and organize.

Requirements Analysis

In this phase, the proponents analyze the requirements that are going to use to fulfill

the needs of the users. Like for example the platform that is going to use that fits in the

knowledge and budget etc. The proponents will also gather the resources needed to execute

the system. System and Software Design

After the proponents have analyzed the requirements, they will begin the system and

software design, such as creating the design, color variation, and layout of the system using

HTML and CSS, and how it will look and how users will respond to this type of design,

whether it is negative or positive, if it is user-friendly or requires more advance skill.

Details Specification

The proponents will use a MYQSL and XAMMP platform to run the system at this

point. This platform is valuable to the proponents because it is available and fits with

proponents’ understanding of how to use it, and it is also a free platform that saves a lot of

money by allowing them to construct a single system program.

Coding

After the proponents analyzed the requirements, system and software design, and

platform that will be used. The proponents will begin coding and building the code that will

carry out the system program.

Unit Testing
College for Research and Technology Capstone Project 2021-2022

The code has been completed and is now ready for unit testing. The proponents will

execute a simple test run or debugging with the system, part by part, such as a visual test on

each page, and begin searching for minor errors such as incorrect spelling of letters or

missing code that causes execution difficulties. If the code contains any errors, the

proponents will begin to correct it.

System Testing

After unit testing, the proponents will conduct System testing, which will run the

program as a whole and try any possible action with the system program, such as logging in

student users and administrators, accessing everything within, such as COCs, topics, and so

on. The proponents will also try to put our system program's reliability, scalability, and

security to the test.

Operation and Testing

College for Research and Technology Capstone Project 2021-2022

After everything has been completed, begin with the analysis, design, specs, coding,

and testing of the requirements. The proponents will conduct a final operation test to see how

well the system program is completely operational and evolved. This is the final step of

testing, which should go considerably more smoothly and without errors than before.

Figure 3.3 Context Diagram

College for Research and Technology Capstone Project 2021-2022

The process of the entire system is depicted in this Context Diagram. The three

external entities, such as the Student, Faculty, and Administrator, are illustrated in this

diagram by Online Computer System Servicing NCII Tutorial. The student's data flow

illustrates that the student can examine the components or contents that are needed in

Computer System Servicing, as well as take a quiz. Faculty data flow indicates that they are

the ones who will support or assist the student and review their progress records. The

administrator is also in charge of editing, updating, and removing student and faculty records

and information.

Figure 3.4 ER Diagram

This figure shows how the system will work and access. The Administrator needs to

log in their username and password. The administrator is responsible for managing the

students and faculty for updating their records, deleting, and adding. The student also needs

their username and password to access the system and they have a Computer System

Servicing Reviewer that contains the part of the Motherboard, COC01 for installing computer

systems and networks, COC02 for configuring computer systems and networks, COC03 for

setup computer server and COC04 for backup and restore, and also the tools that are using in

the assemble and disassemble. In addition, the student can also take their quiz regarding what

they review. In Faculty, they also need to log in with their username and password. The

faculty can view the information of the student that contains name, gender, address, course,

year & section, and their quiz records, and they are responsible for creating the quiz that has

question contains multiple-choice and identification.
