CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION

Background
Due to the pandemic, the researchers learned how

difficult it is to master computer system servicing as an

information technology student. This led the researchers to come

up with this project to implement because the researcher wants to

help students and share their knowledge of this course to them.

Majority of students nowadays are interested in activities that

satisfy them. The Researchers consider what the students want to

see in order to capture their attention, as a result this project

became more interesting and eye-catchy so that they will not be

bored while utilizing the online computer system servicing

tutorial.

The computer systems servicing qualification training will

show you how to manage with the most common problems that

arise when servicing personal computers. Gain through

theoretical and practical knowledge of computer hardware to

learn how to diagnose a variety of hardware, software, and

network system difficulties. Graduates of this course can work in

computer repair shops, electronics companies, computer-related

manufacturing operations, computer sales and services, and even

start their own repair shop.

The Computer Systems Servicing NC II qualification

consists of competencies that must possess to enable to install

and configure computers systems, set-up computer networks and

servers and to maintain and repair computer systems and

networks. The proponents decided to create this project to assist

students in the learning process because of the ongoing

pandemic. This project will be built using PHP as a programming

language and MySQL as a database. This project will also use

Bootstrap to minimize our project down to the size of a mobile.

2
Conceptual Framework

The researchers decided to create this project to assist

students in the learning process because of the ongoing

pandemic. This project was built using PHP as a programming

language and MySQL as a database. This project also used

bootstrap to minimize the project down to the size of a mobile.

The proponents are working on this project for Bachelor

of Science in Information Technology students of College for

Research and Technology. This online tutorial will benefit

students because it will provide them with accurate information.

CHAPTER II

Review of the Related Literature Studies

According to Randy Joy Magno Ventayen [VENT2018],

the purpose of this needs assessment is in order to determine the

level of competency of primary and secondary school teachers in

Lingayen, Pangasinan as a basis for an extension program. Based

on the result of the study, the majority of the ICT coordinator of

the primary and secondary schools are competent and expert in

the field of Computer Systems Servicing, because high school

ICT coordinators are the holder of National Certificate Level 2 in

the field of computer systems servicing. Initially this study is a

basis of a proposed training program, but due to the positive

result, this paper also investigates the contribution of TESDA in

the Department of Education.

Confirming to Arvin Duhaylungsod [DUHA2021], this

research was conducted to determine whether the skills and

competencies of the ICT strand's Senior High School Curriculum

9
match the ICT skills needed by the various industries in

Zamboanga City for employability. The findings serve as a

source of information for other senior high schools in the

Philippines from different regions. In this analysis, a Descriptive

Quantitative method of research was adopted. The results showed

that the respondents highly needed (Computer Systems Servicing

NC II), (Computer Programming .net Technology NC III) and

(Broadband Installation Fixed Wireless Systems NC II) in terms

of the industry's required ICT skills. In addition, management in

both industry and academia needs an advanced and competent

level of competence, as shown in their average response to an

entry-level role in both common and core competencies

(Computer System Servicing NC II). The T-test result also

showed that there is no substantial difference in the level of

competence of the Senior High School Curriculum's Computer

System Servicing as required for an entry-level role in the IT

Department, indicating that the program provided by the

Zamboanga City Senior High School agrees with what the

industry needs.

10
In accordance with Shella Mae Pareja [PARE2021], the

importance of educational technology in the learning and

teaching process could be emphasized. The designed game-based

courseware's purpose was to provide teaching and self-drill-and-

practice for understanding computer system servicing terms and

concepts. This interactive courseware is a new addition to the

learning and teaching process that will be extremely beneficial.

The study's conceptual framework was used to organize and

categorize a wide range of material that defines the scope of

education and the principles of game-based courseware. It is

essential to concentrate on lessons acquired in Computer System

Servicing in order to take advantage of the chances presented by

produced game-based courseware.

As stated by Arman Bernard Santos, Dan Michael

Cortez, Melvin Ballera and  Myra Santos [SANT2021], technical

Vocational seems to progress in terms of delivering competency

based training, learning at your own pace, achieving specific

learning objectives and both the institutional and national

competency assessment. This study focused mainly in improving

technical vocational skills competency which includes training

11
and assessment under information and communication

technology strand. In order to improve the said criteria,

implementation of decision tree along with its attribute selection

measures such as entropy, information gain, gain ratio and gini

index have taken place. Level and impact of skills competency

training and assessment through computations of the attribute

selection measures have yielded to a more conclusive and

detailed improvements in the field of information and

communication technology. Likewise, this study gives an idea to

the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority

(TESDA) and majority of the training center and institutions on

how to deliver the competency based training and at the same

time to absorbed the enumerable criteria accustoming the main

stream of skills.

As reported by Meirani Harsasi and Adrian Sutawijaya

[HARS2018], education system nowadays tends to utilize online

learning, including in higher Online learning system becomes a

major requirement in implementing learning process, including in

Indonesia. interesting issue that needs to be explored is to analyze

factors that can influence students’ satisfaction in online tutorials.

12
This research aims to analyze factors that determine student

satisfaction in online tutorials and what factors that need to be

Research procedure includes collecting data via email, validity

test, reliability results of research procedures to find out what

factors are affecting student satisfaction and some improvements

required based on the viewpoint of the students.

According to Golam Muradul Bashir, Abu Sayed Latiful

Hoque and Bipul Chandra Dev Nath [BASH2015], learning PHP

is more effective if a student can learn through a real

environment. Problem-based learning (PBL) is an effective

pedagogy used to increase the problem-solving skill of the

students. Existing PHP learning systems support limited

problems in real-life environment. In this work, we have

integrated the conventional e-learning of PHP with the PBL

pedagogy to improve the problem-solving capability of the

students. On the web server, students can practice and submit

answers pertaining to the problem with the help of the relevant

references, urls, examples, and standard output. This system

helps the students to engage in self-learning of PHP based on the

real problems.

13
According to Roland I. Rodriguez [RODR2017], This

module covers the outcomes required in installing and

configuring desktop and workstation computers systems. It

consists of competencies to assemble computer hardware, install

operating system and drivers for peripherals/devices, and install

application software as well as to conduct testing and

documentation.

According to Lyne M. Solas [SOLA2021], Learning Area

Computer Systems Servicing Learning Delivery Modality

Modular Distance Learning Delivery Modality I. OBJECTIVES

1. Content Standards The learner demonstrates an understanding

of concepts and principles in setting up computer networks 2.

Performance Standards The learners shall be able to set up

computer networks based established procedures and system

requirements for hardware 3. Learning Competencies

According to Pankaj Khatri [KHAT2019], Typically

Bootstrapping is technique where some part of output is used at

the startup. In Bootstrap amplifier, bootstrapping is used to

14
increase the input impedance. Due to which the loading effect on

the input source also decreases. The design looks similar to

the Darlington pair, having a bootstrap capacitor. Bootstrap

capacitor is used to provide AC signal’s positive feedback to the

base of the transistor. This positive feedback helps in improving

the effective value of the base resistance. This increment in the

base resistance also determined by the voltage gain of the

amplifier circuit.

In accordance to Jensen Ryan Lim [LIM2019] It was

found out that the least mastered competency for the

specialization Computer Systems Servicing (CSS) conducted for

TVL-ICT section Mabini was the core competency number 3 -

Setup Computer Servers. Resulting to 32.56 index of mastery

with an interpretation of low mastery for the competency. This

became the basis for the development and validation of a

Strategic Intervention Material.

15
CHAPTER III

Methodology

This chapter discusses the flow of the Online Computer

System Servicing NCII Tutorial. Using the Gantt chart, the

proponents show the plan for the whole system project by

dividing it into phases and explaining every phase to make it

more understandable and organized. The proponents also created

three figures, which are the V-Model, Context Diagram, and ER

Diagram. The purpose of this figure is to discuss the tools that

will be used, which are PHP for the code, MySQL for the

16
database, HTML, and CSS for the design, and also the figure for

the process of the whole system.

Table 3.1 Gantt chart

Illustrated on this Gantt chart is amount of Month of tasks

done in a certain period of time for the development of the

project.

17
Planning

In the planning phase, the researchers made a plan for the

project. In this phase, the Introduction, Review of Related

Literature, and Methodology were included.

Interview and Research

In this phase, the researchers were scheduled to conduct

an interview with the students of the College for Research and

Technology. Which was a big help to the development of the

project.

Review of Documentation

This phase was conducted by the researchers to review all

the requirements and formulate the next process which were used

to develop the project.

Design and Coding

The researches begun coding in order to develop the

interface, and the entire system will be operational from the

second week of January to the last week of March. Designing the

18
system, researchers chose to use the following: (1) PHP:

Hypertext Pre-processor; used to create scripting knowledge

about the server and the user; and (2) Bootstrap; used to create

responsive, mobile-first, and front-end frameworks. (3) HTML

and CSS for design personalization, and (4) MySQL for database.

Implementation

The final phase is the implementation phase, where the

system is built. This included the system construction, where the

system is being tested to ensure its good performance as well as

designed. At the end, the final system is delivered to the project

sponsor.

19
Figure 3.1 V-Model

This figure of the V-model shows the steps of how the

system flows or the processes happen in the form of a V-shape

and how to make the system more possible and organized.

Requirements Analysis

In this phase, the researchers analyzed the requirements

that were used to fulfill the needs of the users. For example, if the

platform that is going to be used fits within the knowledge and

budget, etc. The proponents also gathered the resources needed to

execute the system.

System and Software Design

After the researchers have analyzed the requirements,

they begun to create the system and software design, such as

creating the design, color variation, and layout of the system

using HTML and CSS, the researchers also determined how it

will look and how users will respond to this type of design,

20
whether it is negative or positive, if it is user-friendly or requires

more advanced skills.

Details Specification

The researchers used MYQSL and XAMMP platform to

run the system at this point. This platform is valuable to the

researchers because it is available and fits with the researchers

understanding of how to use it. It is also a free platform that saves

a lot of money by allowing them to construct a single system

program.

Coding

Following an analysis of the requirements, system and

software design, and platform that were used by the researchers,

coding and building the code were done which carry out the

system program.

Unit Testing

The code has been completed and is now ready for unit

testing. The researchers executed a simple test run or debugging

with the system, part by part, such as a visual test on each page,

and begin searching for minor errors such as incorrect spelling of

21
letters or missing code that causes execution difficulties. If the

code contains any errors, the researchers corrected them.

System Testing

After unit testing, the researchers conducted system

testing, which run the program as a whole and try any possible

action with the system program, such as logging in student users

and administrators, accessing everything within, such as COCs,

topics, and so on. The researchers also tried to put the system

program's reliability, scalability, and security to the test.

Operation and Testing

After everything has been completed, from the analysis,

design, specs, coding, and testing of the requirements, the

researchers conducted final operation test to see how well the

system program is operational and evolved. This is the final step

of testing, which should go considerably more smoothly and

without errors than before.

Student

Figure 3.2 Context Diagram

The process of the entire system is depicted in this context

diagram. The three external entities, such as the student, faculty,

and administrator, are illustrated in this diagram by the online

computer system servicing the NCII tutorial. The context

diagram shows the structure of the online computer system

servicing tutorial for Bachelor of Science in information

23
technology students at the college for research and technology.

The administrator will be in charge of the entire system,

including all activities. Managing edits, updates, and deletions,

assisting the student, and recording the activities of the student

are all features of this system for faculty. To gain access to the

system, the student must provide a valid username and password.

After logging in, the student can begin reviewing or watching the

tutorial and can take the quiz. The faculty can assist the student

and will have a record of whether or not they passed the quiz,

which will be a sign if they are ready to take the national

assessment.

24
Figure 3.3 ER Diagram

This figure shows how the system will work and access

data. The Administrator needs to log in with their username and

password. The administrator is responsible for managing the

students and faculty for updating their records, deleting, and

adding. The student also needs their username and password to

access the system, and they have a Computer System Servicing

Reviewer that contains the parts of the motherboard, COC01 for

25
installing computer systems and networks, COC02 for

configuring computer systems and networks, COC03 for setting

up computer servers, and COC04 for backup and restore, and also

the tools that are used in the assemble and disassemble. In

addition, the student can create their own quiz based on what they

have reviewed. In addition, they also need to log in with their

username and password. The faculty can view the information of

the student that contains name, gender, address, course, year, and

section, and their quiz records, and they are responsible for

creating the quiz that has questions that contain multiple-choice

and identification.
