 1. INTRODUCTION

Our project is based on online exam system and is developed with the motive of
conducting and giving exams in virtual mode.

In contemporary world we are still fighting with the global pandemic which has
forced us to work in virtual form. In this difficult time, we can’t ignore our education
system and in order to keep the pace with ongoing education we are supposed to shift
everything in virtual mode. Thus, we have designed this online platform.

Project Specification

This is a project that covers the boundaries of a website that allows different users
(Students, Teachers, Admins) to give online examinations or conduct it.

This project involves four types of users – Administrator, Principal, Teacher, student.
This is a web application.

1. Each User has different access to the features of this application.

2. Students are allowed to take tests and view results.

3. Teachers are allowed to submit questions, schedule exams and can view
student’s results.

4. The principal is allowed to approve exam dates proposed by teachers and

view all students records class wise.

5. Admin will classify students according to class and insert all the student’s
records. Admin can add multiple schools if the application is enabled
across schools.
Software Specification

For designing this project, we are using below mentioned software:

 HTML is a Hyper Text Markup Language that contains usage of tags and is
used to design the skeleton of the webpage. Its purpose is to provide a
blueprint of the page.

 CSS cascading style sheets, that is a list of rules which is used to add different
design elements and the structure of the webpage. Adding features and UI/UX
to the webpage.

 JavaScript is a scripting language that is used to make webpages dynamic and

interactive. It is used to change the HTML and CSS of the webpage, validating
data and content.

 ReactJs is a JavaScript framework used to build interface and single page

application (SPAs). It makes the website more dynamic producing less time to
reload the content while reloading the webpage.

 PHP is a server-side language used in our project to manage dynamic content

and databases.

 WordPress is a content management system allowing us to host websites and

create beautiful single-page applications.
 2. LITERATURE REVIEW

2.1 Existing System

Online Exam software are the latest technique of conducting examinations through
the Internet. These are capable to answer the undying efforts of the teachers as well
as the moderators who are working towards simplification and modernization of the
exam techniques.

1. Online Exam VS. Traditional Paper Exams

The traditional exam system with lengthy, time eating carrying out and evaluating
procedure, the net exam systems give you the rapid and accurate solutions inside
the favored time restrict. The evaluation is rapid, dependable and correct.

Fewer resources are required in online exams compared to pen-paper tests.

Students can easily get admission to the exams thru the internet so it reduces the
want for school and staff.

2. Old Online Exam Methods (Forms/ Sheets)

Forms and sheets are not the appropriate way of conducting exams because it is
more prone to cheating. Moreover, the exams were not time bounded as well as it
was not having the facility of being watched.

 2.2 Proposed System

We are creating an online exam system. This project involves four types of users

3. PROBLEM FORMULATION

What is the main purpose of the project?

 The project is made in the form of a website that will provide the service of
conducting and giving exams.

Why this project?

 In contemporary world we are still fighting with the global pandemic which

education system and in order to keep the pace with ongoing education we are
supposed to shift everything in virtual mode. Thus, we have designed this
online platform.

What are the merits of the project?

 It is useful because it is in virtual mode that means there is no direct contact

between students.

 It is easy to use and platform independent (works on any browser).

 It reduces the consumption of paper that means it is eco-friendly.

 Interactive Dashboard and user friendly.

 4. OBJECTIVES

This project is designed by keeping in mind about the current situation going on around
the world. The main objective of this project is to tackle the problem of exam system
without direct contact. Providing ease of platform usage and facility for different users.

The main objective of the project is:

 Automatically generates results based on answers marked by the users.

 Time bounded exam and the exam settings are in control of admin.

 Eliminates human errors commonly encountered in manual validation.

 Specific login credentials for different users.

 The exam will be conducted in the objective mode.

5. METHODOLOGY

The following methodology will be followed to achieve the objectives defined for
proposed research work:

1. Analyzing existing online exam conducting platforms and their features.

2. Designing of website based on current user needs.

3. Various parameters will be identified to evaluate the proposed system.

4. Implementation of the proposed system and analyzing it effects.

6. CONCLUSION AND FUTURE SCOPE

This Project is designed to fulfil the need of a virtual examination system. The
proposed system will have a lot of features and will focus on the demerits of already
existing systems which is ultimately going to be helpful for the whole education
system. Since it is very easy to use and can be operated from anywhere, that makes it
stands out from the old traditional system of conducting examination. Also, it has
feature to conduct exam in a more secure manner that makes it a reliable platform and
can be adopted by various educational institutions.

The future scope of this project is mentioned below:

1. Scope of the project is wider than the common manual exam methods.

2. It can be used not only in educational institutions but also in private institute.

There was a case where the computer broke down, and there was a bug in the
contents. Security threats are reported by online verification systems on the Internet.
So, in the near future, so-called software will become more secure and reliable.

In future, using advance technologies and AI, we can provide more authentication
features. Also, we can use more advanced features that can help the users to give exam
in subjective as well as objective mode that will outperform the current traditional
examination format. Moreover, it will provide life proctoring feature and invigilation.
