1. Explain the meaning of the following

a. Politics- the system of ensuring the right allocations of resources, created a system that
makes decisions that will benefit a larger part of the group and the Greeks coined this system
that was meant to decide in a systematical manner, “Politika”.

b. Government and governance- This system keeps the people to move in an organized
manner and used by states to help produce a system that governs the country and this usually
comes in branches which commonly consist of Executive, Legislative and Judiciary. This
system is called Government and the process of creating decisions for the states, the rules,
norms and power to the society is the description of Governance.

c. Constitution- In a government that creates laws and regulations. The government creates a
law that serves as the backbone of the functions of the government in what principles it
should implement and prioritize, these fundamental policies are enclosed in a Supreme law of
the land called Constitution.

d. Sovereignty- The state of having its own supreme authority which is vested in the leader,
government or a person.

2. How do you think politics/ governance can help lessen the spread of COVID 19?

As we face the unwanted effects of this pandemic, the Government serves in the
frontlines providing the information of the virus and addressing its crisis. Through
governance, the government can also create policies that limits the entrance of people in
the boarders of the country and pass legislations that guarantees the financial security of
the people as the country faces the damages in our economy, thus helping people stay at
home while having food on their table. It also means that it needs to maintain stability
throughout the country and is needed to create measures that protect the country through
the pandemic and follows the advices of experts in the field to help respond in a fastest
time possible. The purpose of the government and governance plays an important role in
our society especially that the vaccines can only be acquired through the agreement
between the manufacturers and the government and it can only be attained if the
governance is present in our government which can help address the COVID 19
Pandemic.
