It is better to work at home than in an office. Do you agree?

In the past few years, the technology has developed enough so that the people can work at home,
instead of in an office. For some employees this is a very good way to work, but if I had the
opportunity, I would not work this way.

To begin with, it is hard to spend long hours in front of the computer, while being alone, without the
opportunity to talk with your colleagues. The face-to-face interaction is missing and that can cost
ideas which could have been implemented if it was possible to brainstorm all together. There are
various talking platforms like Skype, Zoom, etc., where the employees can video call, although, it may
not be as efficient as sitting in the office, discussing new plans.

It is widely believed that working-at-home employees have flexible time to do different activities. On
the one hand - it is true, but at home there are different distractions which can cause losing
concentration and the most important – time. In addition, it is highly difficult with the distractions of
family wanting attention or other household noises. Also this might lead to work longer than one
worker should. Not every household can provide good working conditions as an office space does.

As far as I am concerned, setting up a home office costs a lot of money. Remote workers should
provide their office with a high-speed internet connection, printers, fax machines and a good laptop
or a computer. Not everybody has the opportunity to get this equipment.

As a conclusion, I strongly believe that working at home is not that efficient as in an office, although it
depends on the person and his working methods.
