 Political Change occurs when there is an alteration in the power and authority are exercised in a
state.
 A revolution is defined as a rapid and basic transformation of a society’s state and class structures
that is accompanied and in part carried through by class- based revolts from below.
 A coup d’etat is a forcible removal of the ruling government from power that is instigated by a
faction within the established regime, usually by the military.
 Modernization is a multifaceted process involving changes in all areas of human thought and
activity.
 Globalization is the increasing interconnectivity between individuals, groups, and other actors in
the international system. It can result in the spread of post- material values in some societies that
put emphasis on self- expression rather than conformity.

experienced the Martial Law period in the 1970’s. let them recount their experiences
during that period. Use the following table to summarize the information you
gathered.

Analyze the information you gathered and evaluate the changes that you noticed
before and after the Martial Law Period. If you were alive during those years, would
you like to experience the conditions during that period? Write a short essay and
submit it to your subject teacher in UCSP.

B. Post Activity
Answer the following Questions in three to five sentences.
1. Explain the definition of political change as well as the factors that influence it. Give
examples of events that lead to political change.
2. What is modernization? Name at least two ways by which it is manifested in
societies.
3. Enumerate two concrete ways how you can adapt to the different social, economic,
and political changes that are currently happening around you.
