On the other hand, the music from the Visayas is generally viewed as influenced by
the Spanish and European music with its prominent use of the guitar and its vocal/choral and
instrument. The musical instruments of the Cordilleras, Mindoro, Palawan, and Visayas have
each their own different distinct characteristics.
The music of the Cordillera, Mindoro, Palawan and Visayas have similarities in terms
of their functions in the daily lives of the people.
Below is a basic rhythm chart to help you as you learn how to count:

As you can see, one quarter note equals one beat and there are four in a 4-beat bar. In
the count chant method each beat is given a number. Right now we will be dealing with
simple time signatures like 4/4.
Let us apply what you learned from the previews activities. Look for any available
materials at home such as empty bottles (Glass/Platic), Spoon, Fork, Stick, etc. Using any of
these available materials, play the tune of the given song. Record and submit your output.
Ask somebody at home to take a video record of your performance. Your output will be
evaluated based on the given criteria below.

Using the different improvised musical instruments at home, choose one folksong
from any of Cordillera, Mindoro, Palawan and Visayas. Practice singing this song and
perform it with your family members, with your available improvised instruments as
accompaniment. Record and submit the video of your presentation. Use the criteria given in
activity no. 1 as your basis for the evaluation of your output.
