How can you express your patriotism to our country now that we are in the midst of COVID-
19 pandemic? Please expound your answer by giving concrete examples.

At first, I look for the definition of Patriotism. In the best sense of the word, is love of
justice and democracy for all your fellow citizens. And it is something we can and should practice
every day, not just occasionally making an agenda. Today, we all know that the COVID-19 seems
to increase its cases from time to time. The Filipino should discipline themselves and follow health
protocols during this pandemic to minimize the spread of virus.

As a College Student of National University Laguna, I can express my patriotism to our

country despite of pandemic by buying local products here in our country are one of the ways that
I can express my patriotism. Why? Since we are facing a pandemic as of now, there are a lot of
people who sells Filipino products despite the pandemic for them to have another income since
most of them lost their job during this pandemic.

The second thing that I will do to express my patriotism to our country is to support active-
duty military and the nurses or we called it as “front liners”. Front liners mostly do the job despite
this pandemic. They offer themselves to do their job efficiently and to serve country as well. I can
give or express my patriotism by giving my full support to our front liners. One example that I can
express my patriotism is to volunteer in projects or join “Bayanihan” that the barangay is doing
right now. With this kind of participation that I will do, I might learn new things and I will be
happy in giving service to our fellow Filipino.

The third thing that I can do to express my patriotism to our country is to support our
government in the things that they have done properly. We all know that our government are facing
a lot of problems as of now, but we should stick and believe that our government is still doing their
best despite of this pandemic. One of the ways that I can express my patriotism is to respect our
rule of law. An example of this are to not even cross a red light while there are no cars around. I
remember that each one of my actions carries a symbolic significance even if it does not have any
noticeable effects on the whole community.
 Studying the history of our country despite this pandemic are one of the ways that I can
express my patriotism. Why studying of history? Studying history especially about our country are
beneficial for me since then. I can also do a reading about the history of our country. With that
kind of action, that allows myself to express my patriotism to our country.

One other way to express my patriotism for the country is to care for the weak and poor.
We are facing a pandemic today, but not all of us can cope with daily needs especially the weak
and poor here in our country. I can give care to a certain weak or poor Filipino by giving a food or
clothes and protective equipment such as face mask and face shield and alcohol and vitamin – C,
which will help them to be at least protected to virus. This are one of the ways to minimize the
spread of the virus.

Last but not the least is that I can do to express my patriotism to our country despite the
pandemic is to pray for our fellow Filipino and for our country. I will pray that this COVID-19
pandemic should be ended immediately, and our fellow Filipinos are safe, especially my family
and the front liners, who do their task efficiently. I believe that our country will survive despite of
this pandemic that we are facing now. Our fellow Filipino just need a cooperation and discipline.
