Questions for Reflection

1) In your opinion, what constitutes a good life?

̶ A good life is has a stable life that I can give enough on what I and my
family need. Because having a stable life is really what we need right now
in our society because if you’re not stable how do you support your family
needs. Also, on having genuine happiness, to achieve my dreams for my
family and of course for myself, and to be content with what I have in life.
2) What does Aristotle say about the good life? Does it still stand in the
contemporary world?
̶ According to Aristotle, a good life is about happiness and success
accomplished by doing good things in life. Yes, in our society right now it
should be still a stand in the contemporary world. Because a lot of people
nowadays are eager to become rich and leads to do bad things and they
don’t even care if they’ll hurt other people. A lot of people think a good life
is having a lot of money so that they will get all they want, but the truth is
happiness is all that we need to have a good life.
3) How is the progress of science and technology a movement towards the good
life?
̶ The progress of science and technology towards a good life is it gives us
convenience, easy access to information, faster to resolve a problem, and
have better and more options to choose from. It only shows that science
and technology give us a better and good life that each day is a discovery
of new things.

Activity
Form groups of four members each. View the short documentary film titled That Sugar
Film. Discuss among yourselves and report on how production and consumption of
sugar affect your towards the good life. How does unreflective consumption of goods –
in this case, sugar – affect human life.

̶ Eating sugar in a normal amount is okay but when you consume it too much
it's bad for the health and it can result in heart attacks, strokes, and other
health problems. Overconsumption of it is not a result of a journey of a good
life because in the future you’ll have a lot of health problems. I’m not saying
that all of us should not consume sugar, of course our body also needs it but
we should take responsibility for taking on it.
